AIBU?

AIBU to start a new years resolutions thread?

Okay, yes I know, new years resolutions are a bit of an irritating cliche' and most dont really stick to them, but AIBU to ask that we put some here, be supportive of each other and check back regularly to see how we are all getting on?

Mine are,

  1. cut down on booze as it is slowly ruining me.
  2. switch from cigs back to vaping.
  3. have the courage to drive my new business venture forward.
  4. the obligatory get fitter and healthier one.

I wonder if this post could be a bit like that programme 'this time next year.'?

    prepares to be flamed Grin

Last time I quit the fags and switched to vaping, I found it really easy to quit altogether. Just a shame that after a year I slipped! I am sliding towards 40 now and very aware that I cannot screw my body over like this any longer, It will be verybnice to find some supportive posters so we can all cheer each other on!

Quitting smoking was mine 2 years ago. Best thing I ever did. Even if you break and have one never quit quitting and you will break it in the end.
This year is to get Abs.

I've quit smoking, I want to lose 2-3 stone. I've lost a stone this year, but I'd self sabotage every time someone commented and start eating like a heffalump so need to stop that. I want to learn to be patient - 32 isn't too old to learn patience right?!

100, that is a very good one, I did that a few years ago. It is so liberating and good for the soul.

EZA I am guilty of self sabotaging too,?I seem to drop about 2 stone and then slip, every time. I think I need to look a little deeper into why that might be, can anyone recommend any good books to help with these issues?

Well I started vaping yesterday so haven't had a cig in over 24 hours as it just tastes and feels the same, so feels like cheating a bit! Also I don't feel I can say that I've stopped smoking!

I am terrified of piling on the weight tho, am already 2 stone overweight Sad

To lose 4 stone (baby weight plus a bit extra!).

To say no more often and not feel like I have to explain myself.

To ensure work (when I go back after mat leave) doesn't take over.

Good luck to everyone!

Yes I am prone to the odd frequent meltdown since my smoking went from social to hooked following a very serious incident at work (for which I was eventually absolved of blame) and a series of family bereavements in a row. I definitely link smoking to stress. It crept up on me as my go-to about 18 months ago and then I realised that I actually was a 'proper' smoker. Sad However, I've cut down to about 3 a day now and we're setting up a money box for all the cash we would have spent on cigs. Smile

Complete nursing training
Start trying for a baby at the end of 2017.

How is going so far for everyone then?

I am 3 days in to dry jan now, 3 days into my vaping transition and working towards my healthier eating plan now. I have a fridge full of sensible food finally! which is refreshing after christmas Grin.

I am not doing any kind of diet plan again ever, been there, done that. They do work initially, but it always comes back on again! Hmm this year for me, is all about making small changes to my whole lifestyle gradually and working on my mentality. I am determined to end 2017 feeling proud and not guilty about over indulging again.

More goals than resolutions but mine are:

2017 Goals

1. Get back to my normal weight (diet and exercise)
2. Save money for house deposit and mat leave (spend less money)
3. Take a holiday and some short breaks
4. Be a better version of myself (be more productive and groomed)
5. Get married!

So the changes I want to make in January are:

1. 52 changes: Drink correct amount of water (3.5L) per day. May need to start with cordial added.
2. Swap high calories snacks for a coffee and banana. Choose healthy option for lunch (fruit and yoghurt, baked potato, etc)
3. Track calories on MFP
4. Walk to and from Waterloo station when not raining
5. Finish ebaying/selling things bagged up
6. Work out budget (again) and start tracking expenditure
7. Weekend in Manchester, book weekend in Wales, James to investigate South of France villa for June
8. Only use social media to specifically keep in touch with friends or for 'useful' productive reasons
9. Stick to one date night a week
10. Stick to one productive/crafting night a week
11. Book make up artist for wedding
12. Make another 10 wedding favours
13. Do nails twice a week (Mon/Thurs), and facemask/hairmask once a week
14. Find the best shampoo and conditioner for my hair
15. Get haircut and book in again in ten weeks
16. Read one book.

Dh and I made our resolutions other day. We dont drink or smoke so that's not an issue. Mine are:

  1. Get rid of my muffin top. Dh got me an exercise machine which I asked for Xmas and I'm determined to tighten up. Not overweight but got a massive flabby belly. My 18 month old was messing with my flabby thighs other day thinking it was hilarious Confused
  2. Start paying off our ridiculous debt. Already made a schedule as one of our credit agreements ends 14th March and we need 1.6k by then to pay it off. Also no taking out any more credit agreements.
  3. Finish this level of my studies by August latest. Distance learning and I'm 2 months behind as they didn't realise I was doing an extra qualification in between.
  4. Eat healthier and cut down on takeaways to 1 or 2 a month max.
  5. Try take on more responsibility at work to aid my qualification.

Once we pay off debt we can look to move so we're really determined this year Smile
