Sorry not a AIBU subject... But other than Sky, (which we have at present and want to cancel) what similar options are there or do you use? Can't get virgin media in our road yet

We were paying almost £100/month for sky.

I called and cancelled and they offered to reduce the bill to £66/month. This just pissed me off because if they can just do that, why charge so much in the first place?

We now have a combination of Netflix, Amazon Prime and Now TV. It is costing us £24/month for all of them and we have everything we could want to watch.

I like movies and DH likes box sets. The kids like Disney movies and documentaries.

HAPPY, I'm pissed off with sky and know they'll offer me a deal too!! That'll just p me off even more, so I'm exactly in the same boat as you were!
Sorry to sound so thick, but do you still need a dish, box, etc for what you have now.

We have a smart TV, so the Netflix and Amazon is through that.

We got the Now Tv box half price in Currys before Christmas. It was £20 and came with a sky entertainment pass for 6 months!

I like it because there is no contract. So we have had sky cinema etc for the Christmas break, (free trial) but probably won't bother with it again until Easter! So we'll just get another pass then.

I like it. It suits us much better.

Freesat, but the set top boxes can be expensive for the good ones.

When my freesat box died I realised how little TV I actually watch, and didn't bother getting a new box and cancelled my TV licence. I just watch netflix/amazon or other on demand services these days.

Freesat is good, but the various boxes are pricey.

Freeview is a bit easier if you have an aerial and is better supported.

You'd pay about £150-200 for a PVR (a recording box) for Freesat, and you get a reasonable set of channels - all the usual ones (BBC1,2,4, CBBC, Cbeebies, ITV1-4, C4 etc, C5) + some fun extras (Challenge, CBS Action etc)

These sort of things pay very quickly for themselves once you've bought them I find as you obviously only have to pay your TV licence.
