Why would you cut someone's hair if your not trained to do it? Sorry I don't get it far to risky, it's a couple of quid to get a child's hair cut!

Don't hairdressers have training and assessments? It's a bit like teaching, everyone and anyone thinks they can do it.

No arrogance about it. His father had promised to take him and let him down . I was busy sorting things and working . He asked me to cut it which I have many times. The clippers jammed causing some shortness on top. I feel guilty enough

Well if it makes you feel better my DS(7) had been pestering for his hair cut all week. I forgot and he decided to take matters into his own hands last night. He trimmed his fringe, his sideburns and a random patch at his crown with my fabric scissors.

Why is it arrogant to do something other people are trained to do? I cook dinner several times a week- I'm not a trained chef. Ds has just finished polishing and varnishing his floorboards- he's not a trained decorator.

When ours were little dh always cut their hair: seemed silly to spend lots money on something they didn't really care about. Surely self sufficiency is a good thing if money is tight (and even if it isn't).

Blimey op you're worrying over nothing. I scalp my ds on a regular basis as he looks nice (imo) with very short hair. It's come back to bite me on the arse as, at 4 years old, he's decided he wants to grow it and won't let me loose with the clippers. He looks an absolute mess and I'm sure people think I'm just as shit for allowing him out like that

I've done the same when I was arrogantly (wink] ) cutting my sons hair. I forgot to put the guard on the clippers and did a big stripe on the top of his head. He looked like a badger. I had to cut it all super short which looked awful.
It wasn't one of my finest bits of parenting 😂
