Has anyone brought it or tried it?

I thought it was quite a well known combo? I've certainly had it before.

I saw that! Has anyone tasted it?

But then I thought he'd lost the plot on that horrid prawn cocktail with vanilla in it, it was well and truly repulsive.

I thought the bacon fad was over - is he being retro? Xmas Smile

It's vile. I tried some in Waitrose. Yuk.

Bleurgh,

I'm convinced at least 60% of his sales are people showing off about the gastronomic adventurousness

I thought this was gonna be about Charlton Heston and his gun lovin' but then I googled and saw he died in 2008.

Xmas Blush

But yes, you're right, OP. That sounds vile. It must be the alliteration of the 'b' sound that inspired the creators.

I tried it in waitrose. It's disgusting.

vile

I bought some of his pine mince pies a few years back (as they were half price). They smelt of toilet cleaner and tasted beyond foul.

He is such a twat who thinks he is sooo kerrazzy.

Those Waitrose adverts with the really amplified sounds of banana and bacon trifle being slopped out and chocolate cake being cut actually make me feel sick and I do not know why.

They certainly don't make me want that banana and bacon trifle, not that I did in the first place.

The only thing I've liked of his is the Salted Caramel Popcorn. It really is nice. But that's not a weird combo.

lol you've made me laugh with these comments

I always thought it was just me who thought he was a bit of a twat.

Knew this would be about that trifle. Texted DH a photo of it from waitrose earlier today, got about 400 'NO NO Nooooooo!' back.
So that's a No then.

AgentCooper there is a decidely dodgy sounding squelch in the commercial isn't there? I couldn't believe it was so loud.

That sound wouldn't be out of place in a fish gutting scene or grisly murder scene. It make me wince and definitely did not leave me wanting to eat trifle!

I've bought one of his puds for tomorrow. I do hope it's not shit. We've only recently had a Waitrose and I got over excited.

Sparklingbrook · 24/12/2016 17:37

He has also done 'Edibaubles' which are very expensive teeny tiny chocolates.

Report
AgentCooper · 24/12/2016 17:38

Yes, Lead, that's what it's like! Like intestines getting pulled out by zombies or something. It's a horrible....physical sound Grin

Waitrose can do one.

The description of the pudding sounds amazing until you get to the bacon bit :|

Sounds bloody disgusting, reminds me of Rachel's "trifle" in Friends Grin

banana wrapped in streaky bacon grilled is divine.
but in a trifle?

Report
Cantgetmyoldnameback · 24/12/2016 17:45

On one episode of Come Dine with Me, someone made trifle with sausages in.

I don't think Heston's sounds much better!

Baffling and presumably his partnership with Waitrose is some kind of postmodern joke perpetrated by the art community on the general public. Who buys this stuff ?!

They were desperately trying to sell them in Waitrose yesterday. I don't think i've ever tasted anything so disgusting.
Soapy and quite frankly nauseating.

SauvignonBlanche · 24/12/2016 17:48

I got a sample in Waitrose, I couldn't taste the bacon at all - thank God!

I have eaten at the fat duck and it was fabulous. I do think his Waitrose food is not up to much - in fact I think it has diminished his brand. I expect the £££'s were too tempting for him.
