All I have for Christmas lunch is a bottle of Cointreau

Not that I'm panicking but Asda just called to say their delivery van has broken down and even if they could deliver EVERYTHING I need from Christmas lunch, they had aready run out of potatoes, goose fat and stuffing. Great. So I have nothing but a turkey crown. Fortunately mother-in-law phoned earlier asking if she should bring a bottle of Cointreau. Yes that will go nicely with the Chinese takeaway we will be having. I know elderly inlaws always complain "there is too much on their plate" but even they will want more than a bit of meat. Christmas is ruined. AIBU to begin a relentless campaign against Asda #panicking #atleastwehavecointreau

Husband has been sent out to Tesco but it shuts at 11. He is refusing to go to 24 hour Asda to see if they really have no potatoes of any shape or form.

They'll have deliveries overnight. I'd suggest going to the supermarket early tomorrow morning. If you go at 6am is you'll still be early to go to tmothers before they run out.

The shops are open tomorrow. Local Co-Op or Tesco Express? I've been in our local Sainsburys on Xmas eve afternoon before and they had the basics.

What about local chip shop. You can buy chips tomorrow and heat them up on Xmas. Or how about rice? pasta? (My MIL always looks pained after one mouthful of pasta and says she feels full)

I've also done Waitrose at 8am on Xmas Eve and it was well stocked.

Stuffing...if they really have none, make some - there are loads of recipes, many are mostly bread, onion and dried herbs.

Never used goose fat - a mixture of light olive oil and butter is lovely.

Supermarkets are usually less rimmed on Christmas Eve than the day before in my experience (customer and employee). Go tomorrow, get what you can from the supermarket and/or local shops then drink the cointreau so noone notices or cares anything that is missing.
