Prompted by another thread in which people are horrified by the fact op has spent £200 on food for 4 adults and kids for Xmas day. Made me think honestly how much I've spent.
£40 on a goose and beef
£80 on alcohol
£177 on Asda shop
£100 on m and s 'bits' and flowers.
This is for 4 adults and 2 older children for Xmas day and Boxing Day, hoping to last a few days afterwards on leftovers as well.
That's nearly £400!! That's mad isn't it.
AIBU to ask how much you have spent?

About 200 pounds but that doesn't include the meat as DH is going to get the meat from the butcher tomorrow.

About £80 for a family of four, no alcohol

£120 for everything except meat which is an extra £40 on top so £160. That'll feed 7 (5 adults, 2 kids) for Christmas Eve, Day & Boxing Day

Probably also about £200 for 2 adults and a baby 🙈
TBF there's a lot of non-perishables purchased for a gathering we're having on New years eve, it's not just for 1 day.

£115 in aldi and £60 in sainsburys, haven't done the booze shop yet, will probably spend another £60-80 on that. It's just the 2 of us for the duration of the festive period.

We did our 'Christmas shop' and weekly shop at Aldi today and it came to £55 for 2 adults and a toddler

We spend £££ on an average week for 2 anyway, so think £200 for 4 as mentioned in OP is fine. We're out for lunch on Christmas Day, so haven't done a Christmas Day shop.

I've done several shops.
Probably around £200 additional to normal weekly shop which is aroundn£150. We like to eat well [fsmile}

Have an extra 5 adults and child for lunch and dinner. Normally 4 of us.
Extras mainly: 2 bottles of Baileys, Amaretto, didn't need to buy champagne as we have loads from previous years, party food for evening & cheese and extra desserts (red velvet cake, chocolate cupcakes, christmas pud, stollen, chocolate fudge cake and trifle!).

We are feeding bil and sil and bil had the fucking audacity to moan that we asked him to pick up 6 foil trays that cost him £12.

Will rip him a new one if he mentions anything else cause we've not asked them for anything other than fucking foil trays

That includes cat and dog food. Meals for in between days and New Year, cleaning stuff, loo roll etc. I won't have to shop for anything other than milk and bread until after New Year.

158 Euro on food, for at least three days, just for four though.

Extra on alcohol, maybe 30 Euro on wine as it's cheap here,

I didn't think the £200 was excessive at all for festivities.

We are going to SIL's Christmas day (but hosting a few family members Boxing day) and I have spent way more than £300 already and forgotten loads.
My DB and his family are coming NYE, not catered for that yet.
We can afford it and are pushed for time so can't shop around etc.

Crumbs1 · 23/12/2016 21:30

Around £400 not including alcohol.
