I've just bought the festive radio times. Got it home and realised it doesn't actually cover the new year!!!! shockshock AIBU to assume the two week special would cover the whole festive period?

harderandharder2breathe Fri 23-Dec-16 19:22:20

Yanbu that's an outrage!

Is it from last Saturday to next Friday?

Rollonbedtime7pm Fri 23-Dec-16 19:22:46

It always used to!

It's tradition to have the RT at Christmas in our house but went for Heat this year as the rest of the RT magazine is usually shite! Least I can read some 'sleb trash too!!

Thattimeofyearagain Fri 23-Dec-16 19:23:07

<faints>

BikeRunSki Fri 23-Dec-16 19:27:05

I had the same reaction when I realised! It's because it covers 2 weeks and starts on a Saturday , so ends on a Friday. And New Year's Day is a Sunday, so it gets missed off the end.

OwlinaTree Fri 23-Dec-16 19:27:30

Yes it started on the 17th! The 17th of Dec is not a festive day.

Can't believe I've paid so much for 7.5 days of listings. Bah humbug wink

Jellybean83 Fri 23-Dec-16 19:29:29

I was equally as outraged when I bought it last week! shock

OwlinaTree Fri 23-Dec-16 19:31:50

They should have printed a few extra pages imho.

MrsMozart Fri 23-Dec-16 19:33:23

I was all the confused when OH told me.

I feel let down by the universe.

YouTheCat Fri 23-Dec-16 19:36:55

It is an outrage!

I went looking for the New Year one today and no bugger had it. I need to have it for ds as it's part of his Christmas routine.

DoItTooJulia Fri 23-Dec-16 19:37:02

Not only that, but I bought my DM a copy and Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day are completely missing. I'll never spend £4.50 on a RT again. (I actually spent £9 because I bought one too. Mine is complete-well it still doesn't include NYE/D, but you know what I mean!)

As my son would say: it's whack.

bananamonkey Fri 23-Dec-16 19:38:28

And it costs £4.50 shock

OwlinaTree Fri 23-Dec-16 19:39:36

Slightly panicking now that the vital days will be missing from my copy.

Come on baby, hurry up with this feed so I can check!!

AnnieAnoniMouse Fri 23-Dec-16 19:46:26

Oh seriously?! I bought it a couple of weeks ago but haven't looked at it yet. But started on the 17th....grrrr

ellanutella8 Fri 23-Dec-16 19:46:27

Glad I went for the £1 next to it now!

Janey50 Fri 23-Dec-16 19:48:37

£4.50?! fshock faints with shock

MissClarke86 Fri 23-Dec-16 19:49:13

My advice to you is www.tvguide.co.uk.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine Fri 23-Dec-16 19:49:34

Fuck me, that is an outrage - I hadn't even noticed - thanks for the heads up!

WTF is it so thick when they haven't even included New Years day etc.

This.country is going to the dogs.

Dagnabit Fri 23-Dec-16 20:03:40

£4 fucking.50?!! We buy the Mirror on Saturday, just for the tv pages...still have to buy another on the 30th but it was cheaper and we get a good crossword fgrin

Serialweightwatcher Fri 23-Dec-16 20:05:52

I know ........ I was fuming - never even looked until my friend told me - £4.50 is disgusting - I tweeted them to say I was annoyed and I didn't get a reply. I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known - would have spent £3.00 on TV Times instead but they only go to 30th Dec too angry

caitlinohara Fri 23-Dec-16 20:10:46

I have only just realised this as well! Cannot bring myself to buy the next one, I have never bought an issue of the Radio Times apart from the Christmas one and I am not about to start now.

PickledCauliflower Fri 23-Dec-16 20:12:10

£4.50 is a disgrace.
They are cheeky bastards. They are well aware that many people only buy it at Christmas time (as it is a funny comforting xmas thing) so they are totally milking it.
And then not to have New Year listings is a bloody outrage indeed!

DesolateWaist Fri 23-Dec-16 20:12:42

What the actual fuck? I haven't bought one this year and I'm glad I didn't bother.

Arfarfanarf Fri 23-Dec-16 20:14:00

I didnt realise they still sold that. It's all online and also visible on your tv these days isnt it.
I used to love the radio times.

hesterton Fri 23-Dec-16 20:18:05

That reminds me of the ubiquitous Christmas present of the 70s - a maroon leather look radio tines cover with RADIO TIMES embossed on it in fancy font.

We had one!!

My dad used to go through the Radio Times and the TV Times (for ITV) and mark the things we would be watching each evening. Noone else had a say!

I didn't even know that magazine still existed.
