I have really bad anxiety about phoning people so i'm trying to prepare myself to call them, so sorry if some of these questions are stupid..

Do i need to make a whole new claim, or can i just do a change of circumstances thing?
Ex moved out at the beginning of the month but I haven't called them yet because I wasn't sure if it was going to be a permanent thing or not, so the date i give them for us breaking up, is that the date he moved out or the date it was obviously going to be a permanent thing? I'm pregnant and with have DS so i was kind of hoping we were going to sort things out but obviously not..

How long does it take for it to be sorted out? will i have to do a whole new form or can i do it on the phone? they already would have my work details etc surely? This is stressing me out so much.

You will normally have to do another claim as it will be a single rather than joint. When I went from single to joint it took 3 or 4 weeks I think.

They will stop your current joint claim and start a new single claim unless your area has begun the move over to Universal Credit and if it has you will then need to put a claim in for that which takes 6 weeks before you get your first payment

Can't you do most of it online now anyway? I think you need to register with some security like bank details but it's not too complicated.

I think you can do it on line now. If not will a friend or family member advocate for you?

You'll have to ring them & they'll close your joint claim and start a new single claim.
Sorry to hear that you're going through this.Flowers

They don't stop your payments from joint to single. It was fine when I did it. They were lovely.

Im really worried because i dont know if housing benefit will do my claim until i can tell them how much tax credits ill get? I only work part time so obviously they cant do it just on my wages or ill end up getting too much housing benefit?
AND im late with my council tax and they want me to pay the whole year now. But if i phone them and explain im hoping theyll let me go back to monthly...

I just hope their computers decide to start working today.

This is so stressful. Its all something that i can sort out though atleast but i get so nervous about phoning people.

Good luck with it. Make sure you keep details of who you spoke to and when in hmrc and the council for hb.

You can sign up to an online account.

You can make changes online & see what date your next payment is due and the amount.
