My best friend was telling me how much she had to do before her Christmas guests arrive including hoovering the whole house. I tell her to get her strong 16 year old son onto this one. No, she says, he won't do it well enough ( yes, she's a bit of a perfectionist) and I say, no, there's a word for this. When people mostly men do a job badly enough they won't be asked again.

What is that bloody word? It's been bothering me all night. fconfused

Sorry you want the man version. Thought you was asking for her grin

I think it's a phrase rather than a word. Can't think of it though.

Purposefully incompetent?

are you thinking of something like 'learned helplessness'
It doesn't quite fit, but might jog the memory....

Strategic incompetence I think.

Strategic Incompetence?

Being a teenager?

Yes that sounds better - strategic incompetence!

Haha, mall of the above probably apply. I think it was purposeful incompetence, though strategic works just as well.

I had it in my head there was a Mansplaining type equivalent of Manfuckingidle grin.

Competent incompetence. Is what I use when I spot any feebly delivered tasks.
