Iv treated cat.. she had begun to lose hair and done the whole flat every week

Today i moved my bed out to clean under it. Steam mop it and to spray and bomb the place again

My partner is also allergic to them so gets bit and its not v pleasent at all. The past 2 3 weeks hea only got a xouple of bites so i think im winning

But after today if thia doesnt work im seriousely going to cry.

The cat has NO fleas on her at all. Her fur has grown back i am at a lose to what else to do. Shes eveb a inside fucking cat so no idea how she got em them in the first place.
I also have one of thouse lamps that the fuckers are suppossed to be attravted to.. 20 quid and the fucker dont work or the fuckers are smart.
Iv tried sprays.. floggera... powder.. bombs.. all sorts of brands.

So hellllppp please munsnet... what other ideas have u got

Can they be sulphur bombed? Your house will stink forever but it'll be interesting when you do burn it down.

Get the place fumigated?

With the flea spray, are you doing each room one at a time, with the doors for each room closed? Do one room, wait for it to dry, do the next. Also, it's really hard to see fleas on cats sometimes so you need to treat her for it anyway

get rid of the cat?

Good grief don't try to deal with this yourself! Once initial attempts have failed, it's time to call in the professionals!

Get a professional in to fumigate it for you. It will probably end up costing less than endless treatments that don't work.

My friend had to call the professionals in to do her house in the end, but it was horrendously expensive. Might be worth phoning up for a few quotes though?

Yy to getting it done professionally. Our local council do it for half the price of rentokil

You or your partner are probably bringing them back from somewhere outside - they can easily jump onto humans and stay alive :(
And if you steam mop apparently (per my vet) it actually encourages them by making them hatch so you're better off just hoovering thoroughly (and getting rid of the bag outside & cleaning the hoover). Do under the skirting boards as well. Any cracks. Don't forget the curtains.

What spot on treatments have you used? Did you get one from the vets? We have 4 cats and they all got them, frontline didn't touch them. The stuff from the vets got rid completely from the cats and then from the house as they jump on them then die. Cats must be allowed everywhere in the house though in order for this to happen.

Have you tried spraying the house with Indorex? That's the only thing that worked for me - apparently, it kills the larvae and the prevents the eggs from hatching, and lasts up to a year if you spray it on the carpets, and in the crevices.

I sprayed the whole house (get a face mask from somewhere like B&Q, just in case), making sure that I got all of those areas the hoover might not get close enough to, like the skirting boards; dosed the cats every week with Advantage (Frontline didn't touch them); and then combed the cats every day to get rid of the fleas they had.

Took a couple of weeks to clear the cats, but it worked and they didn't get re-infected from fleas hatching in the skirting boards. This was after months of misery.

I have phoned around a few companies and there qouting between 150 and 200....something i dont have right now.

Iv been doing rooms one by one... doors shut... flea powder the carpet almost daily (Fyi.. it gets other odors out to... )
Im 100 percent sure cat has no fleas. Shes white with v short hair. And the fact that her fur has grown back beacyse shes not biting her self im confident shes safe though i have done her with a spray that can be used weekly as a treatment and pre antative
I really dont want to get rid of her. She has such personalty.
This is the shit ball that started it.

I don't have cats anymore, but shared a house with SIL for about a year and she had two who invested the downstairs of the house. In the end I ripped up the carpet completely and started again. Cats were banned from main rooms and had beds/feed etc in the boot room (very cozy).

Not tried frontline as iv heard its shit... but apperently wverything iv used so far has been too. I dont really fancy jail time for arsson... though some one cooking for me and the peace sounds lovely...

So in the new year ill get the professonals in. Seeing if the council can do a cheaper deal is a good idea. Dp thinks were bringing them in as hes not being bit nealy as much as before.

YY to this, when the DC get nits, I get rid of them Hmm.

Probably time to see the vet for the cat, and professional fumigation for the house.

Comfortis is fantastic. Its a pill from vets. They take and fleas drop down dead very quickly as starts to work in half an hour. We did this with our cats and sorted problem on carpets very quickly as every time bit the cats they fell off dead. Our vet also suggests indorex spray which you spray once and lasts for a year

Report
HeddaGabbler · 22/12/2016 19:03

Have you been to the vet? We got prescribed some great flea treatment and it sorted it out. That plus covering the house in indorex twice. I also blasted the inside of the Hoover with indorex and put a flea collar in there.
