AIBU?

To not be happy with this eBay item?

I ordered a Cath Kidston make up bag from a seller on eBay (because it is sold out, not because it was cheaper from there). It is a gift for my son's gf. It's arrived today and it is plainly not the same bag as in the photo. There are images of Mickey and Minnie all over, the picture on eBay shows one of these images in a prominent position right side up. The bag I received has all of the images either upside down or sideways, and the material seems to have been cut in such a way that the print is not displayed well iyswim? I wouldn't buy that one if I saw it in a shop, to me it looks like a second.

I have messaged the seller to express my displeasure and ask her what she is going to do about it. Thing is I'm not going to get the right one in time for Christmas now Angry

AIBU? DH doesn't seem to see the problem but to me the item looks wrong and I won't feel good about giving it now. What should I ask the seller to do? I can't afford to buy another while I wait for the original to get to the seller and be refunded (it cost £26).

This is the photo from ebay.

I can't see the issue? The image is right side up in one place but clearly the design of the fabric is such that not all will be the right way up.

These are photos of the bag I received.

That's not the same bag! The way their heads are pointing is different! How odd - were they selling more than one?

It does look the same to me, too.

I think sometimes with amaetuer photography it's easy to get an 'idea' of what something looks like, then when you receive it, it looks slightly different to what you imagined (happened to me on eBay a few times, and I've been on the receiving end of this from buyers too).

That isn't the same bag as the eBay photo I agree.

It looks the same

If you look on the top photo, it's upside down too

What else is the seller flogging/have they flogged in the past? What's their seller rating? Have they been on eBay long?

If it's not the same bag (I can't really tell tbh) as the one shown in their picture then I suspect they've acquired a batch of either seconds or fakes.

Do you think it's fake? If not, surely it would be like this even if you bought it from a Cath Kitson shop?

I'm not sure what others are looking at but the item you have is not the same as the ebay pictures. I agree it looks like a second. However, obviously some people think it is the same, others have a keener eye - is the gf likely to notice?

They must have 'borrowed' another eBayer's photo for their listing (or they were selling more than one).

Yes it's very slightly different from the photo, but even if you'd ordered from the Cath Kidston website, the one you'd received would probably be slightly different from the stock photo too. It's similar enough and it's really cute, I would just keep it. I don't see why you're so unhappy with it TBH.

I wouldn't be happy either OP, have you looked at the Cath Kidston website to see how it looks on there?

The Cath Kidston Disney range was pretty popular. It could be a fake?

It's the same and it's real. The print has 2 one way up then another the other way up... see pictures here....

Looks like pattern is fairly haphazard on all those bags. Just give it her, she probably won't notice.

Why do people think it's a fake or a second? Because Mickey and Minnie are upside down? Look at the bag on the left here and they're upside down too: assets.goodhousekeeping.co.uk/main/embedded/34974/disney-cath-kidston-5.jpg

No two bags are going to have exactly the same pattern.

It could be fake. One of the signs of a fake handbag with the more expensive brands is things like the logos being cutoff at the seams or upside down.

She might have nicked the photos from somewhere else online? I do this sometimes when I am too lazy to faff about photographing my own Ebay items

I have one purchased from Cath Kitson in store and my hearts are at all kinds of random angles on it!

It looks like a fake before you see the pics of the real thing...which also look like fakes! Bodged up overpriced crap, from the look of it.

It's not the same.

If a seller is using a stock photo then they should say so. It's obvious you expect the received item to be the same as the photographed item.

It just looks like the placement of the pattern when cutting it out.

Most of the fabric I buy these days has random patterns, some upside down, some sideways... I have to be careful where i place the pattern for cutting so as not to make this mistake, I wouldnt say its a second, as the other real ones are the same.

it was sold out other wise you wouldn't have brought it from ebay even though it was cheaper ?? am i the only one who likes a bargain nowadays ? Grin, it's a nice bag, i doubt gf will worry too much tbh, sometimes when you see a 'problem' it's hard not to see it iyswim.
