Aibu to think people shouldn't risk passing illnesses on to others if at all possible? Yesterday I met up with some old friends. One brought their son and age told me, after an hour or so, that he'd thrown up the day before. She only told me because she'd had to take him to the loo and it turns out he had the runs. More friends came later. My friend's baby daughter had very recently had noro. I didn't know until they'd arrived. Another friend had a bad cold with a temperature. She clearly felt awful. Why come to meet people for non urgent things. We could have easily postponed. Instead I might have noro or a bad cold for xmas. If I'm really lucky i could have both! Aibu?

YANBU. This really winds me up as I am a germophob. Over Christmas too. Personally I would not want such thoughtless people as my friends.

I'm a bit of a germaphobe too so didn't know if I was overreacting. Obviously I didn't say anything at the time but inwardly I was worried I'd breathe in all sorts of germs.

You are right. Half our office is down with some virus type thing and I have just had to cancel a night out tonight because I now too am ill. Gutted as it's a great night out and one I look froward to every year.

Was at a party last weekend and next day the hostess informed me someone had bought a contagious child along. No issue for me as DC has had it but the hostess has a 4 week old baby in tow.

The women in question knew the kid had it (spots had appeared and sibling had just had it) but came to the party anyway!!!

This is why i don't venture out with my kids very often in winter. Too many selfish self obsorbed assholes out spreading their muck to everyone. Wouldn't dream of staying at home so they don't spread it, those are the type of people i have no time for.

Yanbu if my kids are ill I keep them home forat least 48hrs after the were last sick/had the runs but I seem to be in the minority. So many parents send them into school especially when it's the last day of school or a party or a trip because they didn't want their little germ ridden darlings to miss out! I saw a facebook post today from an old work colleague about how proud she was of her 2 kids for doing their dancing show yesterday especially as they had a sickness bug! Why would you take your kids to a take part in a big production with hundreds of other children and possibly spoil those families Christmas? It is unbelievably selfish!

YANBU - it gives me the rage. Incredibly selfish. WTF is wrong with some people?!

Yanbu. I went to a toddler group recently and my friend arrived and said she'd been sick in the night and hoped her DS wasn't going to go down with it. Then same friend messaged me before we were due to meet up the following week to say her DS had been sick that week but should still be fine to come - I cancelled our plans!

Why do people do this?! And why so they announce it as if it's something to be proud of? And think how many more people do it but don't admit it...Argh!

YANBU. I remember we all had norovirus one Christmas. (Now Ex) DH announced he was going into work the day after he'd spent all day puking/on the toilet as he had 'too much work to do' to spare a day. I said that he was completely inconsiderate going into work as he could spread it around the office. But he is a narcissistic so and so...

I feel the same way about headlice, why would you knowingly take your child to nursery knowing they have nits? I don't want to pay for the lotions etc. Ignorant people!

YANBU!
I keep mine away while they are ill but loads of parents don't! I put on here last week that a friend brought her trottsy children round a couple weeks ago then my DD got it.
TODAY I took my DD to the panto after breaking up from school and the little boy behind puked all down the back of our seats!!!! His mum said, "poor wee thing, he was feeling sick earlier"!!! Well why the fuck did you bring him to a crowded fucking theatre, and possibly giving me and My DD Noro for Xmas! The sick also went on my fucking handbag which was tucked under my seat. We had to sit through the second half with the smell of vomit stinking! Grrrr. Rant over Grin

YANBU. This annoys me so much, especially as I have an impaired immune system so can get rather ill from something as trivial as a cold.

Weatherforecaster · 22/12/2016 14:30

Marvelous. I now have a dodgy stomach and the shakes. From the shakiness I'm guessing vomiting won't be far off. I'm so annoyed. I knew this would happen. My immune system is pretty poor so the minute I heard about illness I knew I'd be next.

YANBU. I'm not overly paranoid about germs but it's just inconsiderate of people to behave like this.

I once had a student job in a pub that was quite popular for middle-class mummies who lunch, as it was light and spacious and relatively child-friendly. One day three women came in with a kid of about seven or eight. He looked really sorry for himself, so I smiled at him and said 'No school today, then?' expecting him to say he'd just had a filling at the dentist or something, and his mum said 'Oh, they sent him home because he was feeling sick, so I've had to bring him out with me.'

Needless to say the poor little chap threw up everywhere shortly after they sat down. I had to clean it up, everyone eating around them was put off their food, and the poor kid was shaking and in tears because he felt so dire.

I've never felt more like punching a woman in my life. If you've got a nauseous child with you, CANCEL YOUR FUCKING LUNCH!

I have sickness and diarrhea, my kids have got colds......who shall I visit?
I won't be going anywhere, if people have to wait til after xmas for their presents I'm sure that would be preferable to getting a bug!

Honestly, what is wrong with these idiots?? Sorry to hear you are now getting poorly OP.
I remember my DD coming down with chicken pox unexpectedly on a sunday morning, the day of her 3rd birthday party at my home Hmm. I didnt have any of the parents details of the kids who were due at my home, but I knew that some were pg (first trimester) and others were bringing newborn siblings with the invitees. First thing that morning, I had to drag the poor owner of DD's nursery out of bed to a panicked phonecall from me! I got the number of every parent coming and contacted them immediately to prewarn and offer them the option to back out. Needless to say, some dropped out. It had to be done, there was no other option in my mind. My daughters party was not going to be prioritised over the health of others, even though it was hard. It is so incredibly selfish to put people in this position and not warn them.

Its difficult, the annual lurgies descended on my workplace and whilst a few of us were laid up enough not to go in, once we were able we dragged ourselves back. If we stayed away until we were symptom free the place would grind to a halt. Also, you are most likely infection before symptomatic anyway, but yes, this would irritate me also. Especially with children.
