I ordered an item from Pandora as a Christmas gift for a relative. I live outside the UK and couldn't get the item here, so I ordered it online for my mum could bring it out with her when she flies here for Christmas.

To make sure it arrived in plenty of time for her to bring it I opted to pay £10 for the express NEXT DAY delivery.

The website says that providing you order before 3pm on a Monday to Friday it will arrive the following working day.

I ordered on Monday, early in the morning. It should have arrived yesterday, Tuesday. It didn't. My mum just phoned them and it hasn't even been despatched yet. She said 'you do realise this should have been next day delivery, don't you? The response was 'yeah sorry about that but we are really busy this week because of Christmas.'

It's apparently due for despatch today and should arrive tomorrow. So that's basically not any better than their free standard delivery service.

What is pissing me off the most is that their website is still advertising on the home page that you can use express delivery for last minute Christmas presents.

Well obviously, you can't and it's wrong to allow people to place orders on a promise they can't fulfil.

I wanted to complain and warn others on their FB page but it just keeps taking me takes me through to the page for the country I am in, not the UK page, so there's no point.

I fucking hate Pandora stuff as well. Bah humbug.

I've just had this exact problem with MandM direct. The delivery company even said they tried to deliver the item but nobody was home! I waited in all day for the bloody thing.

Complain loud enough and you'll get delivery price refunded and maybe a voucher.

Thanks Mungo I have seen that page, that's where I got the phone number from. I will email them to complain but it takes 48 hours for a response. No problem with that specifically, but I just wanted to get it out there publicly that they are encouraging last minute orders on the basis of a Next Day Delivery that they clearly cannot fulfil, and are charging customers ten quid for the privilege! I think it's a shit thing to do to people ordering Christmas presents and risks leaving people really stuffed.

They are making a massive assumption that so long as it arrives before Christmas Day it will all be okay. In my particular case, it wouldn't be okay - I need it before then, hence why I paid for next day delivery.

I wanted to complain publicly to warn others more than anything else, that next day delivery is taking four days but they are still merrily allowing people to book and pay for it.

What is the whole thing with Pandora. It's just another mass produced item that is overhyped in my opinion. No different to Uggs or any other "must have" item.

Why is it that every time there's anything said about bloody Pandora people have to start snobby posts along the lines of "yabu, because it overpriced tat"? Not everyone likes the same things but that's no reason to question others level of taste or what they chose to spend their money on!

It's to be expected at xmas, it's the delivery companies fault as they are behind but £10 is a lot to lose on delivery. I ordered from schuh and paid next day but it took an extra day annoying but l wouldn't take any companies word on next day this close to xmas

I would like to buy some jewellery for a birthday present. I know the recipient likes Pandora , but I see here that Pandora isn't rated very highly. Has anyone got any suggestions of alternatives ? I would like something plainish but good quality up to £350.00 .

I disagree that it's to be expected just because it's Christmas. The company knows its Christmas. Hey should plan accordingly. And if they can't guarantee their next day delivery then they should not be advertising it or letting people pay for it knowing it won't happen. Other companies manage to still deliver on time after all.

I have one parcel from a online shop bag said guaranteed Christmas delivery. Said 2-4 days delivery to arrive. Email at the weekend to tell me a delay. It yet dispatched so probably not here in time now. Fortunately haven't paid too much for delivery but will still claim it back if not here before Christmas - they promise Christmas delivery so if they can't meet it then they should accept that and give customer at least delivery costs back. Luckily for me it's not an essential.

Recommend Twitter for his kind of thing. Worth setting up an account for it. I find companies often respond much quicker to public twitter comments than any other form - just be clear and informative but not scathing abd they usually get back to you fairly speedily.

Fwiw I have a range of jewellery from novelty Christmas stuff from Primark to much more expensive items specifically selected for special occasions etc. And yes, I have some Pandora too - not too expensive, has so far been decent quality for me, and some nice pieces chosen for me. I don't get the snobbery thing - it's daft and just comes across as yet another bandwagon thing. So if your recipient likes Pandora go with that.

Support local crafters and you will get a much better product and keep the money local too.

You can get a lot of Pandora for £350. I would go with that. All my jewellery is mass produced. I have mass produced Tiffany, mass produced H Samuel and mass produced Pandora and I love it all. Unless you go exclusive and bespoke all jewellery is mass produced.

Another one here who has Pandora jewellery and loves it. I have also found their customer service in store to be excellent - they've changed a bracelet that was the wrong size with no receipt and no questions, and also exchanged another item for a different size with no quibble. Neither times was it their fault and yet they couldn't be more helpful.

Fred. Get onto etsy, there are some wonderful makers on there at your end of the market. Alternatively, search for OOAK jewellery makers on instagram, much better value for money at the level of spend you are looking at. Not mass produced either.

Ohbehave. You are so right, I am a jeweller in early stages of training and if only people explored the handcrafted end of the market more, they would be delighted with what they could buy. Not knocking pandora or being snobby, as it has its own place in the market and works for a quick and easy purchase as does h-samuels etc. But honestly, there is some frankly beautiful jewellery out there from independent jewellers for £350, that pandora cannot even come close to.

If you want something that is a brand, but a bit more stylish or unusual than pandora, try monica vinader. She started out handcrafting jewellery, but now has a mass produced branded range designed by her. They are beautiful.
