To think well done to the actors standing up to try to prevent trump from entering the white house

Well done to them, they are risking their popularity in order to try to help keep someone unfit from office and a change to the political landscape that would be detrimental to the country.

Where is the same for UK actors standing up against brexit?

They won't succeed. Trump will be the next US president.

It was a vote. Trump won. Just like U.K. Leavers won.

Get over it.

The difference with Brexit is that the majority voted for it (whether we like it or not). 2 Million more people voted for Clinton over Trump, and Trump has already proved to be pretty unstable and not at all statesmanlike since.

I don't see this working (as much as I would like it to).

Well at least they are trying. All they need is 37 people to vote with them and they could stop Trump.

If trump is stopped that may help to stop brexit or get a revote.

I'm sympathetic and although there might be a few rogue electors there probably won't be enough to turn the tide.

I think they are a bunch of over paid, over exposed, narcissistic twats. Doing this to purely gain further exposure for themselves. They need to pipe down and accept that Trump won the election. PS I think a Trump is vile but he won.

The democratic vote, and the process is acknowledged.

So rather than that, we vote and then ask the actors' union if it's okay to proceed, or are they going exercise their constitutionally-agreed veto?

Report

They are hardly doing this for exposure! They already have that, what they want is to keep a vile tobogganist out of the w house.

I'm sure farmers from wisconsin give a fuck about millionaires from Hollywood telling them what's good for them. Didn't Hillary try this tactic? Where did it get her?

I don't blame them at all. If I were famous I'd use my influence to speak out against him. This unfolding situation is horrifying and I feel we need to resist and at least be a vocal opposition.

I always believe in standing up for what you believe in. I know Trump has won, but that doesn't mean that I have to like it or stop speaking out against it. Where would we be if we all just rolled over and accepted everything?

I just think they do not get they are part of the problem not the solution. Just as j lo and beyonce shaking their backsides with Clinton goes to show how far from reality she is. They are not the voices of the people who need to be convinced.

It totally defeats the object. The sort of people who voted for Trump will see this as confirmation of a rich privileged class who dominate politics and don't care about ordinary American citizens. This sort of thing does not play well in the current climate and is preaching to the converted.

No, only 37% of the electorate voted for it (about 27% of the population).

If you really believe that Trump should not be president, the time to do something was before the election. Then was the time to fight for an unfit candidate not to be part of the elections.

Once the majority has voted, it's not right to try to block the democratic process. You can still express your opinion and what you believe in, but what's the point in voting if a minority can reverse the decision of the majority?

Exactly! and beyond did not shake her ass with Hillary, she gave a moving speech about empowerment and endorsed Hillary.

If was their own choice, there wasn't anyone with guns blocking the entrance of the voting stations, was it. The election was hardly a secret, if people decided not to vote, it means they were happy with any candidate, so the majority agrees with Trump.

I doubt they will get anywhere, but good on them for speaking out and for continuing to build the momentum against such a god-awful outcome. The next thing that needs to happen is a challenge against the electoral process which resulted in this man becoming president.

what's the point in voting if a minority can reverse the decision of the majority? - you mean, the minority who have already succeed in reversing the decision of the majority?

So why are you not campaigning against the current government who got less than this?

Respect the whole of the system, or campaign against it. Don't just cherry pick your cause.

Why do you think this? they are two completely separate things in two completely separate countries.
