Me and dh are scheduled to go away tomorrow to a friends house. They are his friends who I know vaguely. But tomorrow and Sunday are my last days off til the 2nd of Jan (working all Christmas Sad) the children are going to grandparents for the weekend. I don't wanna go! I'm exhausted (permanent state) the dishwasher just broke, I have a weeks worth of washing to get done, its my staff party tonight so I want to drink and be hungover tomoro. I don't want to get up at 7 and drive half way across the country. I want to veg at home, on my own and eat take away! My other big reason is she uses hun as a noun. (oh hes such a hun! Etc) how can I persuade dh to go on his own when its meant to be a nice couples weekend, all grown up and fun with a meal out and polite smiles?! I don't think I'm being u but he will and we'll argueConfused

Shame you can't go... still, mustn't ruin dhs fun, wave him off and go back to bed/ have a bath/ veg out. Send apologies...

Of you already agreed to go YABU to cancel at the last minute. Surely you knew you could be working at Christmas before you agreed to go away this weekend. And knowing you were going, the washing could have been done sooner. Mention it to DH and get him to do some of it today. OK the dishwasher breaking sucks but tlshit happens and it's not really an excuse not.to go away for the weekend. This is way too late in the day to change your mind.

YABU if you agreed to go and showed no signs you'd rather not. However there's no point of going and being miserable,so talk to him and tell him you're not up to it but he's free to go and enjoy.

I can't cope with being in a var for 4 hours then have the hun-ish behaviour I might kill someone. Maybe I just don't come home tonight, I'm sure I could camp on a bench

I've cancelled all of my plans for this weekend because I felt exactly the same, I need all of my energy to get through the next week. I do break up on Fri though, so not as bad as you. I feel relief at not having to go out although a bit guilty that I've let people down. I just text everyone and said I wasn't well. Do it, you won't regret it!

Being called Hun would be enough of a reason for me! It makes me cringe so much when I hear it - hun's a pretty offensive sectarian slur in my neck of the woods, and I have to make such an effort not to tell people to fuck off when I get called it Angry

Last time we were together I decided to be passive aggressive and answer every hun with a honey. She'd say do you wants drink hun? Id answer yes please honey. She didn't get it all and we ended up sounding like a 1980s American couple.

Ah hah. Initially I thought by hun you meant German or Rangers supporters. Grin

maybe you still do

But yes, YABU to cancel at this late stage. And why is the washing your responsibilty alone? Does your husband not wear clothes?

Get a dodgy stomach asap I once took laxatives to get out of something (very controlling ex wanted proof of illness) I'm not proud but I needed the rest

Husband is utterly incompetent when it comes to washing. He manages to shrink /dye/ ruin everything, everytime. Plus he works more hours than I do!

I'm with you on the whole hun issue. I'd not cope with that more than once. It just grates. Confused

Grin at the hun/honey thing. It probably is too late to get out if it. Hopefully you'll be dining at a decent place so top up your wine and roll with the honey again Xmas Smile

Ok then don't go, say you're ill. But don't expect your husband to support you at partner events with your friends, even when he has already agreed to do so.

The thing about doing this is you set a precedent, and you have to accept the same in return.

Hun has been legally decided to not be sectarian.

It's bloody annoying though.
