AIBU?

This isn't really an AIBU but I wanted to put it here as most days a thread from mumsnet is making it onto the Daily Mail [sad face]... What you write on this site is not just for mumsnet consumption. Don't write anything that you wouldn't be willing to see as click bait for tabloid journalism.

WIBU to update this every week or so with the latest trawlings? Tedious I know but the advice on here is always to collect evidence to support your assertions.

BTW you don't need to actually read the mail to do this, just type mumsnet into their search bar. And its not just the mail. I might expand to include others depending on how long the baby naps for.

Here goes for the last week or so:

1/12/16: "Do you think these pants are too 'scary' for daycare? Preschool BANS toddler from wearing his monster print leggings because they frightened a little girl
By Lauren Ingram For Daily Mail - December 1st 2016, 3:27:57 am
A confused mother has gone online for advice after being told that her toddler's monster print pants (pictured) were 'too scary' for him to wear to daycare."

30/11/16: ‘I posted a picture of a bun in an oven’: Parents reveal their creative pregnancy announcements - but would YOU post your baby scan on Facebook? By Kerry Mcdermott For Mailonline - November 30th 2016, 4:02:10 pm Announcing a pregnancy on social media is now common practice, but when one mother-to-be asked Mumsnet for advice on how to do it, many parents insisted 'nobody cares'.

29/11/16: 'She was clearly trying to start a fight': Mother's furious rant about fellow diners moving dirty plates to her table sparks a VERY heated discussion

One irate mother has shared her story on Mumsnet of a pair of very inconsiderate diners who moved a load of dirty cups and plates onto the table she was sitting at in a cafe.

29/11/16: Should men be BANNED from the maternity ward? Mother-to-be sparks debate online after saying males shouldn't be allowed to stay overnight with their partners
By Sophie Haslett For Daily Mail - November 29th 2016, 1:33:47 am
A mum-to-be and Mumsnet user sparked furious debate after saying she would rather her husband was not present on the maternity ward overnight after she has her C section.

28/11/16: 'You're deluding yourself': Woman sparks a heated backlash after claiming that EVERY man cheats (but some insist she's right)
By Esra Gurkan For Mailonline - November 28th 2016, 2:58:39 pm
Are we all capable of cheating on our partners? Somebody has taken to a forum on Mumsnet to say that people who are absolutely certain that their other halves won't cheat are deluding themselves.

28/11/16: 'Your poor child': Mother is branded 'sexist and disgusting' after asking for advice on how to discourage her son from learning ballet
By Harvey Day For Mailonline - November 28th 2016, 8:50:03 am
One pushy parent took to Mumsnet to ask for advice on how to discourage her son from taking ballet lessons. Most commenters were shocked at the mother's behaviour and called her 'sexist'.

23/11/16: ‘That’s awful!’ Mother sparks a heated debate over charging her teenage son to live at home – as other parents insist it’s something they’d ‘never’ do
By Kerry Mcdermott For Mailonline - November 23rd 2016, 2:29:03 pm

They're not very good journalists, are they? They rely on stuff from a parenting forum that is riddled with trolls anyway so the stories might not even be true.

I think they might get nmw if they manage to find a good enough story to print.
some of those above aren't exactly newsworthy.
I wonder if they'll ever make reporters or be doomed to sit around reading mnet all day, even I'd get bored Grin and I post a lot.

Shifts on MailOnline are about £120 a day. Not great but above the NMW. Many people will be able to make good and well-paid careers in journalism. I notice that the much-mocked Harvey Day is working towards a respected NCTJ qualification and has worked for good news agencies. He doubt if he needs your sympathy - real or otherwise.

Frankly who has time, or even cares, what the DM do.

I really don't get the obsession some posters have with the DM taking articles - I think some secretly covet their threads being copied. It's like juvenile excitement, changing user names to DMareCunts and speculating whether the thread will be in tomorrows paper Hmm

If you write on MN its there for everyone in the world to see for ever anyway.

I used to want to be a journalist, and even got offered voluntary work at my local paper.
But I have to agree, it's incredibly lazy journalism, they just scout other websites and 'create' stories.

My local paper just goes on Facebook, there's a local page for the town and they grab all their stories from there.

I definitely do not want to be a journalist anymore. If you can even call them that.

Don't get the obsession with the DM either. MN is a public forum, anything you post here could be recognised by anyone. In fact when these threads appear in the DM they appear for one day only whereas your personal business will be in active for as long as posters keep it there.

Haha! Is this another of those, "What? Me? Read the Daily Mail? No, no I really don't, honestly..." threads? Xmas Grin

The silly thing is, the Daily Mail has always been Mumsnet's most popular newspaper.

It's certainly the most talked about, most read and most linked to out of all of them.

So you go to the Daily Mail website to click on the search bar, thus bringing more traffic to the site and therefore earning them more money, before coming back to Mumsnet to do a spot of advertising for them and keep everyone talking about their newspaper?

Win - win all round really.

Happy Daily Mail, happy advertisers and happy Mumsnetters who love to moan about it.
