To leave the heating on all night?

I leave mine on all night if it's really cold. Our bedroom is in the loft and FREEZING.

It was -6 here last week. No overnight heating - our dog has a bedcoat and blanket. He was fine.

No. I'd wake up gasping and dripping at 4am. Windows open, heating off, proper pjs and a decent duvet. Lovely.

We have left ours on overnight in the past to avoid the pipes freezing. It may have been a lot lower than -8, can't remember.

We are leaving ours on tonight but turning the thermostat down. I reckon it costs less than trying to get the whole house warm again in the morning and I don't want anyone to be cold. The cold woke me up last night!

When we went on holiday earlier this year, I left the heating on full heat for the entire week by accident! Surprisingly, it didn't add that much to the bill. You'll be fine leaving it on overnight during this cold spell.

We quite often leave it on really low - we try and keep the flat at a constant temperature. Depends on your boiler / thermostat situation really!

How about leaving thermostat at a level just below the normal average house temperature

If it is minus degrees outside, keeps the house ticking over and not so much effort needed to get the house warm again

My heating has been on 24/7 for over a month now! I don't like cold, i do turn it down in the morning though while I go out for the day

Mine is set 2.5 degrees lower than the usual, until midnight, then will come on again about 3.30am, then up to normal temperature for 6.30am.

We can't have ours on much as it affects DS1s asthma, but recently the baby has been waking in the night cold so last night I turned it down and turned DS1s radiator off and left it on all night = no blue handed baby

We turn ours down 3 degrees from the evening temperature at night. Most nights, it doesn't come on at all, but it definitely does when it's that cold!

I do wish ds2 would wear some bloody pyjamas. He'll wear pyjama pants and we've got him some fleecy ones, but he can't stand wearing a top at night.

Well I just got home and the fucking builder has left the heating on. Again. So that's 6 hours of the hearing going full blast with no one even in the house.

Which is far more wasteful that having the heating on overnight.

Our heating usually goes off at 10pm but the boiler overrides the timer when outside temp goes below a certain temperature to prevent pipes freezing. So sometimes we do have it on all night. (Our boiler is linked to an outside temperature sensor rather than an internal thermostat).

Yello if you've had any sort of plastering work done, that could be a reason why the builder left the heating on, the plaster needs a few days to dry out and needs heating help as it's so cold outside.

Cointreau I'm really surprised your loft is cold! Ours is the warmest room in the house as any heat rises, though we did have extra insulation put in there when built so I suppose that helps.

Dogs can cope with cold a lot better than us. As long as they are in the house theyll be fine with the heat off.
