AIBU?

Fuming, raging, heartbroken....

It seems like this is used about everything now.

AIBU to wonder why nobody is ever just a bit miffed or slightly put out anymore?

And what happens to the fuming, heartbroken ragers who get so angry about an innocuous comment from a teacher or a sideways glance on public transport when something really bad happens? Do their heads actually explode?! Confused

I think they start 'screaming', ideally 'in someone's face'.

People are always devastated too, what happened to the stiff upper lip?

See also people who spend hours or even days crying, generally after an argument or similar. Even at my most distressed over a close bereavement I've never been able to do that.

I think it started with Diana's death to be honest.

And people seem too "ready to kill" these days

Yabu. Who are you to police how people describe their emotions? Hmm

And people who are "howling". Is no one mildly amused any more?

I am often a bit miffed, should I post more about when this happens on mumsnet?

Just to add some balance. Although it may get a bit dull.

I always prefer to be fumming rather than fuming Grin

Yay, a thread to mock people who aren't as emotionally robust as the rest. Just what vulnerable people need to read over their morning coffee.

Mumsnet at it's best.

A woman walked quickly past me in Tesco yesterday and got to the checkout with the smallest queue before me. I felt ever so slightly huffy.

I feel sorry for footballers when their team loses. Because it's a tragedy.

I understand berating sometimes occurs.

Anyone else remember the "fumming" thread.

I laughed so much I wet my knickers.

I think a lot of the threads containing melodramatic adjectives end up being deleted.

My DP and I have a daily competition to collect the most 'outraged' people. RL, Forums, TV, Regional and National news papers / sites count. The Daily Mail does not (being as it's not a news site). Smile

I'm mildly irritated this morning. I'd start a thread, but by the end of the first page I'll probably be accused of fuming and raging. Or told I should be fuming and raging. Either way it's a bit dull to be honest.

I like 'incandescent with rage', been a while since I've seen it around though.

I've noticed that a lot of things are vile these days.

Oh God.

I remember when MN was allowed to be witty Sometimes these days I feel as if it's being patrolled by the NUS with their No Platform policy, and their swapping of clapping for jazz hands in case of triggering someone's panic attacks, and their safe space policies.

Another vote for incandescent.

Got to love hyperbolic anger.

A bit miffed etc is so 1990s.

Disclaimer: it does actually make me a bit miffed (showing my age here) when everything is so bloody tabloid. I've seen more BREAKING NEWS in the last five years than I saw ever in my life before then. Prior to that breaking news was some seriously bad shit going down (dead monarch, terrible plane crash etc). Now it's that Justin Beiber is number one, someone's got voted off Strictly etc. Everything is so over the top and attention seeking these days.
