AIBU?

To think I was really rude and want to change my phone habits!

Feeling pretty guilty right now!

I went out on Saturday night for a meal and some drinks. While I was out I got a few messages from someone who was meeting us later, so unlocked my phone to read them. At the time I saw I had a message from another friend but didn't read it because I was chatting and didn't want to be rude to the people I was out with. Planned to read and reply later!

This lunchtime I was checking through my messages for a friends address and saw the unread message from Saturday. It had important (happy) news about my friends daughter and also invited us round for tea on Sunday. Obviously I only saw it today!

Feel pretty bad that I forgot to read the message, probably because I'd had a few drinks and was just having a busy giggly evening :-s

Maybe I should a) never drink again and b) phone everyone instead of texting so I know they got it.

Obviously I've apologised but not heard back. Am I over-reacting?

Yes you are overreacting. A simple, 'sorry I missed your message as I was out at dinner when you sent it' congrats on the news re: daughter and say you're gutted you missed out on Sunday tea then arrange another meet up.

"Waah, so sorry, only just saw this. Would have been lovely. Damn!! Next week?" -> I send some variation of this text at least once a week

I blame iphones, if you dismiss the notification you have to remember to go back and look.

Just remembered my auntie texted me in October and I never got back...
