AIBU?

To think Karma seems to miss some people?

I work at a nursery school that is run by a committee of volunteers. There is a mum who wanted a job at the nursery school (her daughters go here) but was turned down as she was totally unsuitable. This did not go down well. She has since found her way onto the committee and since April has been the chairperson.

She is totally abusing her power. She is scrutinising every move the staff make and is constantly bad mouthing us to parents, causing them to worry unnecessarily. She is absolutely vile and nasty to us and tries to control everything we do and punish us if we challenge her. It is such a shame as it's otherwise a lovely place to work and an outstanding nursery school.

But to outsiders she portrays herself as a lovely down to earth person and it seems they all fall for it. AIBU to genuinely wonder how people can be so two faced and get away with it? I genuinely wonder if she will ever get her comeuppance.

Karma doesn't exist

Karma doesn't miss people out because there's no such thing.

People abuse power - and worse - every millisecond and nothing bad happens to them. I think karma was invented by someone who ran out of chocolate or weed or whatever and needed to think of something to cheer themselves up.

What they said. Karma is nothing but an imaginary comfort blanket people use to soothe themselves when they've been wronged.

Both my ex bosses who have screwed me over have had their comeuppance within 2 years. I do believe it catches up with people in the end. Sit back and wait...

Like others have said Karma doesn't exist, I know of people that have done some dreadful things and nothing ever ever happens to them.

Hopefully She'll be found out. You can't be a nasty piece of shit without being found out sooner or later.

Well I'm a believer that 'What goes around comes around'..which is the same as Karma ! I don't think it misses people.. she'll get hers !! What a cow but how did she get elected as chair if she's so unsuitable to be a nursery worker. Hopefully she'll be gone by the time her kids move up ? can you complain to vice chair about her ?

Karma doesn't exist but I do believe in what goes around....

I was sent a link to a national newspaper yesterday about some one who made my life a misery and hacked my home computer (I kid you not!). They have got their comeuppance, life splashed across the Nationals, lost job and judging by some of the comments, I wasn't the only person she did it to.

Payback is a bitch!

I don't believe in karma, too many bad things happen to good people while absolutely awful people coast along in life Sad

Wether Karma exists or not there are consequences to every action you make.
The consequence here is everyone Hayes her and thinks she's a pain and when one day she may need you or your help or a reference or a good word etc, you can justifiably tell her to shove it up her nasty arse!!!!!!!

Can you speak to the owners of the company or to the LA, if it's LA?

If necessary, record everything, every incident, for some time. Suggest other staff do too. If you can get a meeting with the owners/LA then bring these records

otherwise it looks like your best bet is a new job :( Poor kids too, while I'm sure your very professional, someone behaving in a controlling and destructive manner tends to sour an otherwise lovely place.

Bump sadly there are enough people around who will always help out an asshat in need, for all kinds of reasons.

I'm actually quite sad when people talk about karma, a friend of mine went on about it for months trying to figure out what she had done wrong after being diagnosed with a painful debilitating condition. Fortunately she found therapy helpful and no longer asks me what terrible thing she did to deserve it.

A couple of times when I was looking after her, I pretended to need the loo to compose myself after she asked me that, she is such a lovely person, I hated seeing her blame herself.

Karma doesn't exist, my lovely dad was killed in a pointless accident, the idea that it was meant to be because of something he had done in this life or a previous one is too awful to contemplate!

What comes around goes away. Wait and see. If shes that nasty she be nasty to someone with powers and her nice cover will be blown....

Tbh, she sounds quite pathetic. What a sad way for her to spend her time.

Karma does not mean 'what comes around goes around' its more subtle than that. It's the idea that everything is linked and that the energy you put out is the energy you get back.
Its not a cashback system.

karma doesn't mean that you deserve the bad things that happen to you, it's more about your mindset.

You see the world the way you are and because how you see the world is the reality of the world then if you see the world as a nasty place then it is. For example judgemental people are often the most paranoid because they think people are judging them.

It's far more subtle than you deserve everything you get in life.

OP specifically asked this though
" I genuinely wonder if she will ever get her comeuppance."

Many never do. They might even get to be president as a pp pointed out.

Ok maybe karma was the wrong word to use. It's just so depressing to think that person may always get away with dreadful behaviour.
