to be angry because people cancel last minute

Girl's night out. There is a good number of us going. I book it with my husband and I'm quite excited to go out. I don't get out for a drink so often.
The day of going out everyone starts cancelling. There are 3 of us left now. AIBU to be annoyed by it? Why the hell do you say you're going if you're not going to make it??? It was planned weeks ago. Husbands are out all the time. To make mums to go out is a mission. Why don't they just make a point of not putting their husband's social life first for once?

I'm confused, what has the husbands social life got to do with it?

Also, it's nearly the end of term so depending on the age of the girls it's probably just too much for them.

Perhaps a weekend afternoon would be better for girls than a school night evening? Probably more choice of things they can do, too.

Argh I have this problem too. On The boys nights out no-one ever cancels. I've actually given up trying to arrange any girls night out now because every time I do most people drop out and it gets on my tits

Husband's social life, work drinks always come first.

So how many have cancelled and why? This time of year is awful for bugs etc

It's grim, friends being so flaky.

AmaDablam Wed 23-Nov-16 20:00:45

Yes it's annoying but I'm not sure there's a lot you can do about it. People are just flakey. At least if there are still 3 of you up for it at gone 7.30, there's a good chance it'll still happen. Have fun!

Totally know what you mean OP. A friend organised a night out and at least 5 people dropped out on the day. I've two mum's nights out coming up and I can guarantee a good number will cancel. I just don't get why.

Oblomov16 Wed 23-Nov-16 20:09:16

I don't have this problem. None of my friends are flakey. At all. I don't do flakey.

Oblomov16 Wed 23-Nov-16 20:10:37

But, go, enjoy. 3 is enough to have a really good time.

RaggyDoll1 Wed 23-Nov-16 20:59:48

YANBU, their loss

Maz2444466 Wed 23-Nov-16 21:06:14

I understand OP but 4 of you altogether can still have lots of fun, enjoy your night out, get dressed up and feel good and have some wine smile

Maz2444466 Wed 23-Nov-16 21:07:53

Sorry just read it's 3 - even better, more chance for a better chat.

Candlestickchick Wed 23-Nov-16 21:09:28

YANBU. I hate flakey people, it's so rude.

TheLegendOfBeans Wed 23-Nov-16 21:11:45

YANBU - go and have fun with just three. Don't give up the chance to go boozing ever!

I'm not UK born so that is rude but as I see here it's perfectly acceptable.

Illness probably accounts for some, and childcare may have fallen through for someone. But that sort of last minute problem aside, if I'd agreed to go, I would go, at least for a bit. I might not stay till the small hours if I was very tired or had an early start next day, but worrying about letting others down would probably be my overriding driver to get me there, even if I wasn't really in the mood.
