AIBU?

To be really anxious for my first hair cut in a year!

I don't know why but I'm really really anxious about my hair appointment this evening!
I currently have bum length hair and I'm planning on having it cut to my chest and coloured. Big change! I've had it blonde and brunette but never in my adult life, had it short.
I have 7mo twins and it gets pulled and grubby and I never have time to wash/dry and style in anymore so shorter is definitely the way, but I'm going to really miss my princess hair Sad

AIBU to feel anxious and WIBU to chicken out BlushGrin

I wouldn't advise going radically shorter if you're not sure. Long hair seems to be part of your identity.
Cutting some off the length would make it easier to manage but I found with small children that it was easier to have enough length to put it up on busy days.

Consider donating your hair to charity. There are some that can use the hair to make wigs for children with hair loss.

I dread to think how much upkeep hair that length requires! You could lob 15 inches off and still have a full mane.

Do it!

Lost yes I am planning on donating to Little Princess Trust and they need a minimum 30cm plaited hair so that will be the minimum I get chopped!
It's silly really but you're right it's always been a part of my identity but I've been thinking about biting the bullet on this for a while, I just think I'll chicken out last minute Blush

Lovely to hear you're donating Smile. Cutting 30 cm off will still leave you with long hair. It will feel great to wash and brush with the ends off (and of course it will grow). I don't think you should go any shorter to be honest. You can always have more cut off at a later date.

I'd love to see an after pic!

Thank you for the advise Lost and will definitely come back and pop an after shot on! My appointment is at 5 and normally takes a few hours, another reason for the chop, I rarely have time for such things anymore! I think you are right to air on the side of caution.

Just to warn you, my baby cried his head off when he saw me with my long hair cut into a bob! (He soon got over it though, it wasn't the reaction I was hoping for Grin)

Oh nooooo don't tell me that Shock they should be asleep when I get home so hopefully they'll be more interested in their morning bottle than my new hair first thing!

Is that your natural hair on both pics OP!? It's so beautiful! I always have my hair long but it starts to look so scraggy when it gets past a certain point! I wouldn't go too short, a good chunk off should be enough to make it easier to tie up.

Your hair will feel fuller if you have it a little shorter. Having 30cm off will still leave you with long hair but a lot of the weight will be gone, which drags down the volume. and prevents the hair framing the face, which is flattering.
Your hair will feel fuller and lighter. I wouldn't hesitate.
I have long hair, but it starts to annoy me if it gets too long

I had my bum length hair chopped to shoulder length 5 years ago. It felt weird.
Then 2 years later I got a mohawk. That felt GREAT. I miss my long hair sometimes but having short hair is liberating.

Was that you in the original pics OP?

What a fantastic thing to do donating your hair! I couldn't do it as I would have to go into my head to get anywhere near 30cm but it is something i would love to do!

Oh wow, you're hair is beautiful

I've chopped about 30 cm off twice now (I never looks like it because it's v. curly), the ends will feel sooo much nicer
