To wonder when Mumsnet stopped being a place for mums?

I used to frequent the site years ago and have come back recently because I became a mum again! However, whilst I am all for equality, the site seems to be full of people who aren't mums or aren't even parents! (and a good few who are journalists hunting for stories!).

I would never suggest anyone be excluded from the warmth, breadth of knowledge or bat shit crazy hysteria that the site offers, I was just wondering when it stopped being a place mainly for mums?

(I am not suggesting dads or non parents aren't welcome, just curious as to when the shift happened?).

I've been on MN for yonks, and can't say I've noticed any shift.

The first time I came across MN was as a teacher. I post as a gardener. I've posted as recently bereaved.

I don't think I've ever posted anything to do with being a mother, though I am one.

The qualifications of others, as mums or parents has never crossed my mind.

No it was another poster that said it was the non parents, journos, transactivists etc contributing to the backslide.

I just don't get why you would notice or that it would bother you. I have been here years and it's always the newbies (or new returners) that start these threads.

I just get fucked off that when someone posts about this, people pile in and start saying it's 'odd' and a 'backslide' and we then have to justify ourselves by explaining yet again that the site has a lot of topics.

If you search you will see a fuckload of posts on this subject, it might have saved you the hassle
