Its all right for some isn't it. Sod the rest of us, we're just the mugs paying for it. What a bloody burden this family are.

Palomb Fri 18-Nov-16 22:43:59

I'm happy for my contributions to be spent maintaining our British heritage.

heartskey Fri 18-Nov-16 22:46:16

Well I'm not, and our heritage is a lot more than keeping one family in obscene wealth. We have a rich heritage, however I don't consider the Windsors a part of it.

I'd like to know how much it amounts to for each working individual. I think I can afford a pittance a year for 10 years to fund the Queen's home. It won't be more than a pound I bet.

Yes, it's horrible - very rich women doesn't maintain her property for 50 years, so the tax payer has to foot the bill. 'Brilliant'.

TheFallenMadonna Fri 18-Nov-16 22:49:50

It's a 50 year fix apparently. It seems a lot of money for just 50 years, certainly.

mylittlephoney Fri 18-Nov-16 22:50:14

Unbeleivable they live it up while we serfs pay for it. Why not build another hospital? - oh no we can't the wndsors need a new roof. I'm all for the monarchy but only if they pay for themselves. If this were an immigrant family they're be uproar.

SabineUndine Fri 18-Nov-16 22:50:42

It's disgraceful. It's not 'our British heritage'. WE don't benefit from it at all.

MadeForThis Fri 18-Nov-16 22:51:25

It's disgusting to think that we have an under funded NHS yet somehow the money to prioritise this.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme Fri 18-Nov-16 22:52:33

It's not just her "home". It's a massive tourist attraction and something that genuinely is a "national icon".

sterlingcooper Fri 18-Nov-16 22:52:48

I think it is in Britain's economic and cultural interest to keep Buckingham Palace in good condition, not because it is the Queen's home but because it a massive piece of living history and a big touristic draw.

lubeybooby Fri 18-Nov-16 22:52:51

they do pay for it themselves. I wish people would do their research, fgs.

all royal incomes from land, property and ventures is paid direct to government coffers. They are paid less than they put it. It's all quite simple and so bloody ridiculous that no one seems to know this.

fleur34 Fri 18-Nov-16 22:54:07

I quite like the rf but this is beyond a joke. Not good!

heartskey Fri 18-Nov-16 22:54:25

Yes hatesummer but just think of all the wonderful things that "pittance* could do for worthwhile things. We can't justify the huge amount being spent because it's only a pittance from each one of us. There are more important things to spend "pittances" on. Hospitals, schools, police, essential services to name just a few. Everything's getting slashed to the bone, it's appalling.

"Oh, you haven't got the funds to restore it, Ma'am? Don't worry, if you sign it over to the National Trust, we will pay for the restoration. You and your husband can live there fur the rest of your lives, and then we take full possession. No, no - not at all - you are very welcome. We know just where the tea rooms will go..."

This week we found out that our sons special needs preschool's funding has been cut. This means that they will have to close next year, meaning that there will be no special needs preschool to cover south Norfolk and Suffolk. None. This is a group which has meant my son (who has asd and learning disabilities) and other similar children have been able to enjoy meeting other children and has been a source of information and support for parents who are going through one of the most stressful things a parent can come to terms with.

When I found out about the refurbishment of BP I literally felt rage. The way the government picks and chooses which things to fund speaks volumes. Food bank use is higher than it has ever been. The poor are poorer than they've been for a long time.

Yes heritage is important but at this rate we won't have a future generation to enjoy it.

DonaldStott Fri 18-Nov-16 22:56:26

Absolutely sickening. But hey, its okay. Their children and their childrens children, and their childrens childrens children will be fine. When there are kids in poverty, as long as Buckingham palace is in good repair, that's what is important, cause that's fair right? I mean it is the british way to fuck the poor over and keep one single particular family in the unbelievable life of luxury just cos they were born. This is normal and healthy. It's tradition innit. So it must be okay right. Right?

heartskey Fri 18-Nov-16 22:58:45

No they don't pay for it themselves tubey, they get a huge percentage of all the Royal estates, but it's not theirs. If they were abolished tomorrow they wouldn't be allowed to keep it. It would instantly revert back to the government.

KatsAndCids Fri 18-Nov-16 22:59:03

I don't understand the logic in the moaning tbh.

She's our Queen.

She has the final say on what goes on in our country. We elect a prime minister and the royals check what they're doing is for the good of the country.

What evil has the queen done for you?

I'm by no means well off and struggle to pay the rent at times....but I truly believe they're not "grabbers " and doing their bit for the country

What are you doing for the country op?

<hard hat and flame retardant coat on>

TheFallenMadonna Fri 18-Nov-16 22:59:14 says 30 100 000 taxpayers. So just over a tenner each.

DonaldStott Fri 18-Nov-16 23:00:03

People say its pennies per year. Well I want a fucking choice where my pennies go to and its not the freeloaders. Wonder if maam pays bedroom tax on all her spare rooms.

If someone in another job had said any of the racist things phil the greek had said, they would have been fired.

If someone had been hanging out with a convicted peadophile in a prominent position, they would have been fired

It is wrong. So wrong.

Elitism is wrong
