My dd (5) has developed a verucca. This is the first verucca I've seen for about 20 yrs and I'm not sure what's normal! It's raised by about 2mm, approx 4mm diameter but what worries me is that the skin around it is a bit red. In all the horrendous pictures Ive seen online, none have red skin around them. I took her to nurse a few weeks ago who confirmed it was a verucca, but skin around it has got redder since then.not sure whether to go back to surgery or not, felt a bit ridiculous the first time!

My dd had verrucs which covered her feet,no treatments worked. Then her hands began to get warts around all her fingernails, they got big and sore.Gp said if treatments not working don't worry as she would grow out of them.Thia all lasted for yr3/4 to year 6.I began to really worry about teasing she would get mostly about her hands going to high school but over the summer holidays, eith no treatment all verrucas/ warts went. Some fingernails took a while to recover but no reccurance.
When the first verrucas appeared we tried everything it just took her immunity to these viruses to kick in.You can get verruca socks for swimming and PE

Not sure about the redness, I've had a few and they were never red. I've tried every treatment btw and the only thing that worked was a banana skin taped on with duct tape. After years of having a verruca this did the job in about 2 weeks.

Ds had a verucca. It took a year of lax random treatment by me with bazucca to get rid.
Wasn't red though.

Duct tape. It was the only thing that worked for us last year. Spend weeks and weeks treating DS's verruca with ruddy stuff from the doctor which completely failed to work (and made him wail, claiming it hurt/burned). Put duct tape on and leave it for a few days. Deprived of light and oxygen they seem to magically vanish. And at least cheap and worth a try!
