Understanding Trumpery?

This is a genuine question to try and understand Trumpery and the appeal of Brexit.

The attached image is from a Considerate Constructers poster on a construction site in Wokingham. (PS sorry if it is a bit small). Whilst I think understand the intention of the message, can I ask people for their interpretation of what message it sends? The banner headline says Considerate Constructers care about the environment.

By way of background info, Considerate Constructors was set up some years ago to stamp put cat calling and wolf whistles from builders on scaffolding. It is now a major campaigning group dedicated to improving the image of construction. Wokingham is a wealthy town just west of Heathrow that is almost entirely WASP (white Anglo Saxon Protestant).

Obviously there are significant differences between the US and UK. But much has been made about similarities. Regardless, it is apparent our community is at risk of dividing. I hope we can try to understand why in order to avoid conflict.

I am asking what message you think that image conveys to the various people who wee it? So that is people on the site, people who deliver to the site and people who walk past the site?

I am not suggesting anything. I am asking questions in the manor of that Socrates chappie from ancient Greek times. I am asking to find out if the image is creating the image it is intended to convey? Or is it creating an unintended message to some people?

How do you know what the creators of that image intended to convey? What is the unintended message that it might be conveying? I imagine it has something to do with race, given your attempt to describe the inhabitants of Wokingham. I wonder why you're not saying what you think about it?

I've read your OP twice and I genuinely don't understand what you're asking. I have tried to work it out by framing it with your original references to "Trumpery" and Brexit, and then by disregarding that altogether and concentrating on the (new) question in your second post, but either way I'm stumped. Can you explain a bit further what you mean?

OK, having checked the website, that banner is available to buy and is accompanied by the tagline: considerate constructor's secure everyone's safety.

So I'll bite.

Use of a black women in the publicity for a traditionally male industry suggests that the organisation is keen to promote diversity in the trade, that they think equality is key and that intolerance in the construction industry should not be tolerated.

i.e. the "vulnerable" staff member will be protected.

OP, do you think that it's wrong or 'PC gone mad' for a builder to have a black person on a poster in a predominantly white town? Because that would be nutty.

But why? Are you seeing division in society represented by Wokingham on one side and the poster on the other?
