Facebook posts about local crimes

My cousin is constantly sharing posts about crimes committed locally to her. There was a recent one about several people being mugged, and some raped, on a local footpath. The latest one is about an attempted child abduction outside Asda yesterday. These crimes all seem to have a set of common characteristics - the perpetrators are invariably Easten European, and there is never any other reporting (in the press, or warnings from police) about the incidents. The original poster asks people to share their post widely, but always evades questions about whether the police have been called.

AIBU to find this all more than a little fishy?

Yes YABU.

That is more than "a little fishy" it sounds like a sustained campaign of misinformation and hate!

Your cousin needs to grow up - but then the people who start such campaigns know how to hook in the less suspicious, more scared, gullible reader!

Your cousin must live near me!

Always "eastern european".

(And I mean she must live near me because I've seen that post)

And me...

A friend of the family shared a photo of her (adult) brother the other day.

He had been badly beaten and they was frothing at the mouth about the attackers who surprise surprise were allegedly EE.

The post was being shared all over FB

Now I don't agree with violence but anyone who knows them, knows that family are just a bit racist and it's very likely the brother gobbed off first.

The post however made it sound like he was attacked unprovoked

Though so. My cousin is gullible rather than sharing this stuff maliciously, but I'm always amazed at how many people share these posts - the Asda one allegedly happened in Merry Hill yesterday, and 10,000 people have shared it now.

Thought so, sorry.
