I've had 4 babies, the last one is 6 months old. Before kids I was a size 8, now I'm a very wobbly 12-14.

Trouble is. I just really bloody love food. It's amazing.

I would love to get my figure back, but every morning I vow to be good and every lunch time I'm like 'Fffooooooodddd!'

Help me Mumsnetters

I loooooooove food.
But I've cut out all processed food and only food found in nature like meat, fruit and veg. After a few days I suddenly had I cravings at all for anything other than what I was eating and I've lost 8 pounds in just under 2 weeks and I feel so much better. I'm also not snacking anymore as I don't get those sugar cravings.

I've given up processed food too. And sugar. I've lost 5 stone since January. Also I aim to walk 10,000 steps a day and swim 2-3 times a week. Giving up sugar has totally changed my life.

The only way to do it is to "cut the crap". Whatever diet you follow it all boils down to eating mainly meat fish veg fruit and very little rubbish. Is it easy? There wouldn't be any overweight people if it was.

I also love food. But I have lost 2 stone recently (have a 9 month old) - with a bit more to go.

What worked for me is not restricting your food intake, just reducing it slightly. Using My Fitness Pal app helped me record everything. I was shocked at what calories there are in some foods.

It really helped me when I wanted a snack, instead of seeing the snack, I saw the calories, and when you have a target each day, you get pretty picky about what food you want to spend your calories on!

Basically 3500 calories = 1lb, so by eating 250 calories less, and exercising 250 calories each day, every week you will lose 1lb.

It worked for me. I'm not starving, I'm loosing weight steadily each week, and when I go back to 'normal', my body won't need to adjust much and I won't put on tonnes of weight back on.

I hope this works for you. I've tried lots of times, but this time, MFP recording, and being consistent every day with my target has really worked for me.

Good luck x

I've kept the snacks and treats, and still lost the 2 stone. Cutting out treats doesn't work for me. I need treats Grin

I cut back, but not cut out Smile

It's true though, if you stop eating wheat and sugar that gnawing hunger in your belly just disappears, your appetite sorts itself out.

Losing weight is really easy. When you are in the right determined state of mind that is. If they could bottle that feeling the diet industry would die out over night.

Bunty you're right, you're on a hiding to nothing if your head isn't in the right place. Whoever can bottle the right mind set will be a billionaire overnight.

Not saying I can do it by the way but that's the top and bottom of it.

Eat 3 meals a day, limit snacking, drink plenty of water and green tea, plus 30 mins exercise a day.

Slimming world is the best way I've ever tried to lose weight. I absolutely loved it. I am awful with diets of any sort... I'll be having a gastric bypass next year sometime (just saving for it!) But that's only because I feel I've tried everything else and never stick to it. Slimming world really is great though. Give it a go. I bet you'll love it!

Exercise to buy a few spare calories, and build muscle to improve general calorie burn. Lean muscle also feels good.

Keep blood sugars stable on low GI foods; complex carbs, proteins, fats. Snack if you are hungry, but make it nutritious, not an empty sugar hit.

Don't waste calories on drinks- reduce sweetened drinks (be it juice, alcohol, sugar or sweeteners) Water or fruit teas are good.

Reduce portion size.

Keep food varied. Aim to eat a colourful range of foods. Moderate portions of all types of foods mean you're well nourished and not feeling deprived.

Eat "real" food. Reduce processed food and takeaways. Avoid reduced sugar/fat versions of food. The original version is usually more satsifying.

MFP is great for evaluating what you're eating and using.

Develop food intolerances to almost everything (milk, gluten, soya, critic acid). Means you can only really eat food you have prepare. The weight soon falls off!

What do you natural eaters (sorry for phrase) do for lunch when your working? Im usually very good for evening meal, meat & veg, but with work im out and about, I can either eat in cafes/mcdonalds type places and really don't know what to get, I need something decent as when I don't eat enough I end up feeling ill/dizzy/sick etc.

Losing weight is easy - cut out alcohol and sugar and only eat when you are really hungry,
You need to feel hunger. so many of us dont.

Suppose I can be classed as a natural water but it is not through choice.
If I am having lunch out at work it is normally a baked potato with ham and salad. And if Ian taking a packed lunch it it's left overs, soup (home made), Ira salad.

No.

If you have gained weight without any trauma or major upheaval and just by living your life, then you have gained weight while eating the things that you feel like you want to eat.

In order to lose weight you will have to eat less than you feel like you want to, or not eat the things that you feel like you want to.

Simple is not the same as easy.

Thanks kayak, a salad just isn't enough for me, I suppose i'll need to bulk them out more, I am a mixture of sometimes pack lunch, but if im on the road its the cafe/mcdonalds type depending where I am.
I've even resorted to eating a bag of chips from the chippy as its just potato and oil but not very good for losing a few pounds!!
