"Hacked off"

"Tear him a new one"

I've never heard one person in real life use either of those and to be honest, I'm glad! They're the ugliest phrases ever!

Tear him a new one is particularly disgusting.

AIBU to ask you to share yours? Either things you don't hear in real life or things you hate but only encounter here?

I hear and use "hacked off" on a regular basis.

Never heard "No is a complete sentence" in real life though.

ladylambkin Sun 06-Nov-16 14:27:58

smile I have heard both used many times...I'm assuming it could be a regional thing?

BratFarrarsPony Sun 06-Nov-16 14:28:20

personally I hate 'tear him a new one' if a man said this about a woman there would be a riot!
Also the people who say are probably all lovely and anti violence....;)

Fuck off to the far side of fuck and when you get there fuck off some more or something like that

That phrase was mildly funny for a brief period about 8 years ago though MN still seems to think it's hilarious.

'Peace and love'

'Bun fight'

'You can get nice clothes in Boden and Fat Face'

First two in particular, such a patronising way of writing. Never hear such silly praises in real life.

MrsJayy Sun 06-Nov-16 14:30:30

Entitled! nobody says that in real life in my world

EdmundCleverClogs Sun 06-Nov-16 14:30:44

phrases even

Palomb Sun 06-Nov-16 14:31:02

So true Sausage I cringe when people write it.
See also 'this too shall pass' 😫

I use hacked off all the time.

Cynara Sun 06-Nov-16 14:31:24

"Beyond" as in "beyond rude" or "beyond offended". Does anyone actually say this in real life? It's beyond annoying.

toffee1000 Sun 06-Nov-16 14:31:26

Fuckweasel and cuntbadger, although we have started using fuckweasel in my family grin

Aeroflotgirl Sun 06-Nov-16 14:31:27

Right here goes: toxic, Wendy, cocklodger, are you on glue!, liftzilla, Penisbeaker.

MrsJayy Sun 06-Nov-16 14:32:35

Somebody i know says Bun fight im assuming she is a mumsnetter last time she said it another friend said a bun what? grin

dementedma Sun 06-Nov-16 14:32:59

Wankbadger. I love it.

Helpmechooseababyname Sun 06-Nov-16 14:33:26

'Call 101 and get it logged' for everything. I've never heard that apart from on here.

rawsienna Sun 06-Nov-16 14:33:59

What an Arse

Never heard it in RL.

MN is full of 'arses'.

WorraLiberty Sun 06-Nov-16 14:35:10

"Did you mean to be so rude?"

Considering the obvious answer is "Yes. Did you mean to be so thick?" I'm pretty glad I've never heard it in RL grin

LiviaDrusillaAugusta Sun 06-Nov-16 14:36:06

Posters suggesting OP says 'Did you mean to be so rude' usually accompanied by 'breezy laugh' or 'tinkly little laugh' or 'head tilt'.

Posters think they are sooooo hilarious when they suggest it.

It's a wanky phrase, to which the obvious reply is 'yes, yes I did' grin

alltouchedout Sun 06-Nov-16 14:36:10

Tinkly laugh
No is a complete sentence
Read Lundy Bancroft (or Bancroft I can never remember which)
Bad form (I never hear anyone say that. Ever. And have only read it in jolly hockey sticks children's books and on mn)

And of course, in no way exclusive to mn but annoying wherever you read it, the "oh it was so much better in the old days".

I do like mn though.

Bluntness100 Sun 06-Nov-16 14:36:13

The " c" word. Honestly, it's an awful word and I seldom if ever hear anyone use it, and when I do, I'm shocked. It's written on here loads, like it's ok and not hugely offensive. I do wonder if the people who write it, actually say it all the time in real life too.

The one about Boden and fat face made me laugh,,,😂

user1477282676 Sun 06-Nov-16 14:36:27

God yes! "Are you on glue" is so stupid and teenagery.

'The patriarchy'

I don't think I've ever heard anyone mention it, other than on TV and even then it's very rare.

rawsienna Sun 06-Nov-16 14:37:06

I couldn't care less

even stranger,

^I could care less ^confused

stop being an arse. You so blood DO care otherwise why do you go to the bother to read the thread and reply?

You're not fooling anyone with the I couldn't care less crap.

alltouchedout Sun 06-Nov-16 14:37:50
