AIBU to think I should get the puppy?

We have a tri-colour beagle who is 6 months. I ideally would like to get another puppy and have been looking at the sweetest baby Cavapoo puppy. We went to a kennel the first time we bought our boy and have gone back to ask about the puppy. We chose the Cavapoo and have been in motions to buy it, signing paperwork and putting a deposit down. She has met our daughters and they talk about her constantly! But, I went to the breeders today to give her the rest of the money and she said that she wasn't going to sell her to me anymore because her niece wanted her! I said that we'd payed and she just refused to let me give her the money and buy our puppy. I can't tell my girls that we can't have the puppy anymore, they'll be devastated! I want my dog!

I would be really annoyed but I'm not sure what you can do. What paperwork has been signed?

Did the paperwork say the breeder reserved the right to halt the sale? If so you are out of luck, but you should definitely get your deposit back. Plenty of people will be here soon to say this but I'll be the first, lots of dogs and puppies desperate for loving homes in rescues instead of supporting unscrupulous breeders

Someone breeding cavapoos (mongrels) and beagles? hmm Sounds like a puppy farm to me and you've had a lucky escape.

monkeyfacegrace Wed 02-Nov-16 17:46:57

Why are you getting puppies 6 months apart? Recipe for fucking disaster.

You've had a lucky escape. Wait at least another 12 months then look again.

And yy to the breeder being a BYB.

If they are breeding two utterly disparate breeds of dog in close succession, they are a puppy farmer.

Sciurus83 Wed 02-Nov-16 18:01:24

Hadn't clocked it was the same place for both dogs. This is a puppy farm, please don't give them your money

GiveUmEll Wed 02-Nov-16 18:12:54

Oh No!!! I hadn't clicked, they have licensing and the dogs are bred in completely different areas. It's a massive farm and I've checked the licence!! It's a puppy farm!?! Our other dog is fine. In all honesty, it is our choice to raise two dogs at once and if this is a puppy farm, I will be getting anotger puppy. I've done it before and I can do it again (had two puppies in diff country and raised them, one died of cancer and my S took the other one as I rented when first came to England and they didn't allow dogs). Rescues, I worry about because it's easier to train a puppy that hasn't had another owner.

AliceInUnderpants Wed 02-Nov-16 18:13:36

WHY oh why do people still fucking do this???

GinIsIn Wed 02-Nov-16 18:15:10

A lot of puppies in rescues haven't had an owner yet either.

A massive farm full of different kinds of puppies? Yup - puppy farm!

VeryBitchyRestingFace Wed 02-Nov-16 18:16:39

<ignores the whole point of thread and madly googles the unknown quantity "cavapoo">

CosyCoupe88 Wed 02-Nov-16 18:17:20

Little rascals?

GiveUmEll Wed 02-Nov-16 18:21:57

I will be checking out rescues then Fenella. Haha Bitchy grin
Bloody hell, I just want my money back and my little Beagle checked over. Oh god, what if there's something wrong with him, what do I look out for?!?!?!?! I'm bloody terrified. He's the most gorgeous thing, looks like a normal beagle and is lovely mannered.

NavyandWhite Wed 02-Nov-16 18:24:52

Why didn't you check this breeder out before lining her pocket the first time when you bought the beagle?

IggyPopsicle Wed 02-Nov-16 18:26:37

I've had a Cavapoo before.

Not as bad as a ChampagneShite, mind...

GinIsIn Wed 02-Nov-16 18:26:57

I don't understand how you can not have realised this was a puppy farm?!

Soubriquet Wed 02-Nov-16 18:28:37

So they won't even return your deposit even though she's giving the dog to her niece?

And how on earth did you not clock this was a puppy farm?

Pisssssedofff Wed 02-Nov-16 18:29:24

So what if it's a puppy farm, if the animals healthy and well what does it matter. Where does any animal come from these days ?

Soubriquet Wed 02-Nov-16 18:31:05

Whilst the puppies might be healthy ish the mothers certainly are not

They are bred from and bred from until she can't breed no more.

They are rife with parvo, and most puppies are very sick.

NavyandWhite Wed 02-Nov-16 18:31:22

Oh ffs Pissssedoff. "So what if it's a puppy farm?" angry are you really that ignorant or just like winding people up.

If it's the former I suggest you google puppy farms. Enlighten yourself.

GinIsIn Wed 02-Nov-16 18:31:40

Pisssssed do everyone a favour - take your head out of your arse and Google puppy farming. That should answer your question!! hmm

insan1tyscartching Wed 02-Nov-16 18:32:21

You'll have a new puppy and another going through adolescence at the same time it's a recipe for hell on earth if you ask me shuddering remembering ddog's adolescence I'd leave it at least a year before throwing another puppy into the mix.

DrunkenUnicorn Wed 02-Nov-16 18:32:27

pissedoff your response is the height of ignorance
