We're on our knees in this house at the moment. A succession of Autumn illnesses, no sleep for the last week, dh working all hours as we're super skint after a flurry of unexpected bills...

So in my sleep deprived state I'm prepping my 1 year old's tea while he's napping (becauseiknowhe'llbeclingyashellwhenhewakesupandwon'etmedoanything) and realise I've inadvertently chosen for him

Pasta
Broccoli
Baked beans (low sugar and salt, obv)
A sprout.

Is this the most disgusting toddler tea ever?

For what it's worth we usually all eat a blw-friendly meal together at 6 but with dh going straight from one job to the other and the clocks changing DS is having a rare meal for one.

Hit me with your crap meal choices and make me feel better.

Once in a hurry I mixed his vegetables with his banana purée. It is obviously a bad thing to do as it started stinking as a wheelie bin within seconds and DS has refused to have any banana ever since. (That was more than a decade ago so you can imagine how bad it was) Blush

Oh God really? You've just put all of those separate things on a plate for him? Sorry but yes that is the worst tea ever. Pasta and baked beans? (off to vom).

Leave the beans and sprout out and cook some cut up broccoli and pasta with some cheese and its a lovely little meal and it's less effort with less cookingWink.

Many years ago I was dreadfully ill (vomiting, shaking, fever etc). I had a newborn and a toddler...dh at work...no help. It was horrendous...I think my toddler had crisps for dinner Blush. He's nearly as tall as me now, so I think he emerged unscathed!

I can still remember the first time my daughter tried a rollmop (pickled herring), age about 2. Her father loves them and she was interested. I will never forget the look of shock on her face! But she was game for another one.

I was very surprised when my two year old scoffed a load of sashimi. He also likes olives and palm hearts and Indian food. Refused his lasagne tonight though.

We (dh, me and toddler) had a cheeseboard this evening. He is a cheese fiend and tried a bit of everything!

My 3 year old started dipping his baby sweetcorn in his yoghurt. Thought he'd finished his main so got a yog for him and then the dipping started. Figured at least he was eating his veg so left him to it.

Once when I had a sickness bug and couldn't face food DD was given plain pasta with grated cheese for both lunch and dinner. She loved it!

I love pasta and beans together!

Tbh since dd came along, who is a very picky eater compared to the boys, I just make sure sure they have some protein, some carbs etc etc. That said, she did wolf down a full roast today.

I get home later than DP so he is responsible for getting our DD tea-I usually do a packed lunch as she has cooked dinner at lunchtime. One day I forgot and we needed to go food shopping so DP fed her Mackerel, baked beans and pickled onions.ConfusedSad

I think the worst thing I've ever fed DS is pasta with cheese and marmite and broccoli on the side. This was a couple of weeks ago and he'd hardly eaten for a few days because of sore teeth, and he finally wanted food again and that's what he said he wanted. I tried pasta with cheese plus toast and marmite first but that caused tears, so I gave in and mixed some marmite into the pasta. He loved it and now asks for it constantly so I have to keep saying we've run out of marmite Blush.

My DD is 4 and a total food snob! (us parents are definitely NOT food snobs, quite frankly I'd prefer chicken nuggets and chips for tea!)
We were in Aldi today and she shouts "Mummy, did you pick up the brioche?"
and later on "Did you get more cranberry sauce for the Brie?"
Grin she makes me smile!

Can't remember any weird combinations, but I do remember when DS (about 20 months) had some spicy (medium) sauce at Nando's, turned red and kept eating it! In the end we swapped plates (with me as DP eats less spicy than the kid) and gave him the pomegranate dip.

I think food combos are learnt. My dd would alternate puddings with mains spoon by spoon. But the sprout -gaaaah that's going too far
