AIBU?

To drink wine in the park?

We've walked two miles to the good park. We stopped at the shop to buy the essentials (milk, water and wine). I have cups with me so the kids can have a drink. They've been in the park for an hour and we have another hour to go before DH picks us up.

Just how bad would it be to pour myself a glass of vino? I am bored shitless. Will everybody judge me and will I be an awful parent?

If it matters, the wine is still nice and cold. Although the plastic cup may mar the taste somewhat. I'm sitting outside the actual play park with the dog.

AIBU? Would you?

God yes I would.

It's cold and boring. Wine will help. If the kids are fine why not.

A glass won't hurt, although I'm sure someone will say you shouldn't drink due to boredom. Grin

Grin, I love a drink but I'd draw the line a drinking in the park on a cold, damp afternoon, sorry.

Just make sure you disguise it with a brown paper bag.... Grin

I don't think I would, but I wouldn't judge you.

It just feels a bit early for me and wine in a plastic cup doesn't feel like as much of a treat as it should!

Is it against local bylaws? Will be a bit embarrassing if a passing police officer confiscates your bottle and pours it out...

Why can't you drink some water or milk instead?

Are there any signs saying it is a no alcohol zone? I know they have them some places where as our park allows barbecues and alcohol. If so them why not? Probably not the bottle!

Ok well it's poured. I got a look from a family walking past. Oops. I might have a fag to complete the look.

As long as it's legal, go ahead!

Definitely not a no alcohol zone, it's the sort of park with BBQ and picnic areas.

Well people are more than happy to drink wine in the park in summer sitting on a blanket, I don't see how it's so different!

The only reason I'd hesitate would be that'd it'd make me need a wee Grin

There's every chance I'll drink most of the bottle WineBlush It's cold and the kids don't need me, and we don't have to walk back. Fuck it, I'll be that parent.

We're heading to the car park now. Half a bottle down. Slight buzz on. Everyone's had a lovely time.

Jolly good! Bet it made the time pass a bit easier.

Did you have the rest in a glass when you got home?

It's totally fine, as long as you have chosen the correct cuvee.

Rosé wine is a no no this time of year. You need to go with Mad Dog 20/20 or Thunderbird. Make sure you interact with passing folk by incoherent ranting

I've had the rest now while cooking dinner. I had several far too chatty chats with fellow dog walkers, but other than that I think I got away with it...
