We've walked two miles to the good park. We stopped at the shop to buy the essentials (milk, water and wine). I have cups with me so the kids can have a drink. They've been in the park for an hour and we have another hour to go before DH picks us up.

Just how bad would it be to pour myself a glass of vino? I am bored shitless. Will everybody judge me and will I be an awful parent?

If it matters, the wine is still nice and cold. Although the plastic cup may mar the taste somewhat. I'm sitting outside the actual play park with the dog.

AIBU? Would you?

God yes I would.

It's cold and boring. Wine will help. If the kids are fine why not.

A glass won't hurt, although I'm sure someone will say you shouldn't drink due to boredom. grin

Haggisfish Thu 27-Oct-16 16:05:14

Haha! I might but would worry about the Judging!!

StillStayingClassySanDiego Thu 27-Oct-16 16:05:42

grin, I love a drink but I'd draw the line a drinking in the park on a cold, damp afternoon, sorry.

TheNaze73 Thu 27-Oct-16 16:05:48

Just make sure you disguise it with a brown paper bag.... grin

I don't think I would, but I wouldn't judge you.

It just feels a bit early for me and wine in a plastic cup doesn't feel like as much of a treat as it should!

Is it against local bylaws? Will be a bit embarrassing if a passing police officer confiscates your bottle and pours it out...

Why can't you drink some water or milk instead?

Are there any signs saying it is a no alcohol zone? I know they have them some places where as our park allows barbecues and alcohol. If so them why not? Probably not the bottle!

FlapsTie Thu 27-Oct-16 16:07:17

Ok well it's poured. I got a look from a family walking past. Oops. I might have a fag to complete the look.

rollinghedgehog Thu 27-Oct-16 16:07:43

As long as it's legal, go ahead!

FlapsTie Thu 27-Oct-16 16:07:50

Definitely not a no alcohol zone, it's the sort of park with BBQ and picnic areas.

MadHattersWineParty Thu 27-Oct-16 16:07:54

Well people are more than happy to drink wine in the park in summer sitting on a blanket, I don't see how it's so different!

The only reason I'd hesitate would be that'd it'd make me need a wee grin

FlapsTie Thu 27-Oct-16 16:08:28

Ah, I am right by the loos so that's covered!

x2boys Thu 27-Oct-16 16:09:06

if you drink the bottle you wont care that your bored! my mum and me did this once in a park in paris we had gone on a coach trip and the wine was cheap as chips it being france plus it was a large 1 and half litre bottle anyway i digress yanbu!

StillStayingClassySanDiego Thu 27-Oct-16 16:09:45

Mad agree but it's cold out there and yes I'd be needing a pee soon after a glass paper cup

MadHattersWineParty Thu 27-Oct-16 16:09:48

Well chin chin then I say grin

timeforabrewnow Thu 27-Oct-16 16:09:50

Wait til you get home,

timeforabrewnow Thu 27-Oct-16 16:10:51

oops too late.

JoJoSM2 Thu 27-Oct-16 16:10:59

Oh dear... You'll enjoy the wine more out of a nice glass later :P

FlapsTie Thu 27-Oct-16 16:11:28

There's every chance I'll drink most of the bottle wineblush It's cold and the kids don't need me, and we don't have to walk back. Fuck it, I'll be that parent.

FlapsTie Thu 27-Oct-16 16:45:44

We're heading to the car park now. Half a bottle down. Slight buzz on. Everyone's had a lovely time.

MadHattersWineParty Thu 27-Oct-16 18:04:32

Jolly good! Bet it made the time pass a bit easier.

Did you have the rest in a glass when you got home?

Lilaclily Thu 27-Oct-16 18:07:52

Are you asleep now on the sofa grin

Antifrank Thu 27-Oct-16 18:08:43

It's totally fine, as long as you have chosen the correct cuvee.

Rosé wine is a no no this time of year. You need to go with Mad Dog 20/20 or Thunderbird. Make sure you interact with passing folk by incoherent ranting
