AIBU?

To ask you who actually buys Garibaldis?

In the staff room today there was a severe biscuit shortage and by the time I got in for a brew, there were only Garibaldis left.

These have surely got to be the worst 'biscuits' of all time? They're basically just cardboard with some currants in them. They remind me of going to my grandma's house circa 1983 where she always had a packet open that never seemed to actually deplete.

Who is buying these things? Oh, and what would you prefer to a Garibaldi? I'm partial to a nice Ginger nut, myself.

My 90-something Aunt likes them. I had to buy them for her.

Her shopping list was like going back fifty years. It was fascinating Smile.

I suppose our avocado, pasta and smoothie shopping lists will be just as dated in a couple of decades.

My DH buys them and my Mum used to but I'm with you OP they are awful and should not be allowed to be called biscuits they are an insult to all biscuits!

I've never liked them and I don't understand how my DH can eat them or how my Mum could.

I'm sorry but in the biscuit heirachy The Garibaldi is top tier, ginger nuts are low tier, almost rich tea tier, just awful.

Garibaldi - Scottish Shortbread - Chocolate Digestive = top tier
Custard cream - non chocolate digestive = mid tier
Ginger nut - Bourbon = low tier
Rich Tea = scum tier

Grin

Squashed fly bisuits, party rings and pink wafers were our staple childhood treats. Love them!

I think they must be an english thing as I've never had them. But they sound a bit like fig rolls which are rank not Envy

Interestingly those "healthy" biscuits are modelled on a Garibaldi. Can't remember what they're called which invalidates my point somewhat.

I like a plain chocolate digestive. Also those pink wafers you get at parties which are basically sugar in wafer form.

Foul things. They're not a treat in the slightest.

I do like a garibaldi, though I can't have had one in 20 years!

Must disagree with Pinkie about Bourbons though - they are definitely a top tier biscuit Grin
