Has anyone done a ouija bored? I haven't. My partner has. Scares the shot out of me. Is it real?

For me it's like crack. Never do, go near, touch, etc etc

My mum never let us do them.
The only times I ignored her it was just my mate pushing a glass around on a board. Ghosts don't exist.
hth.

My mum wouldn't either. I wouldn't because I'm too scared and you can't do that sort of stuff with being scared but so they actually work?

Just interested to know if anyone has done it and it's been right. I'd never do it. Too scared, heard too many horror stories. But my partner did it. Both his parents died young. He says without a doubt he spoke to them

I've been close to 2 friends with horror stories about them. Some might say it's all a load of crap, they don't believe in it blah blah but I'd stay away. It's a bit like playing with something you don't know how to turn on or off or control. Too risky

Of course they don't.

You might as well turn the lights off and piss about with a Monopoly board.

It's all about 'atmosphere'. That's what puts the shits up people.

Try sitting in the middle of a packed bus or your local soft play centre during the day with a ouija board.

Not quite the same atmosphere ay? Grin

No, never. Because, if they don't work, you've all scared yourselves stupid for no reason. And if they do, you've opened a door to goodness knows what & can't close it again.

No. I think it's a dumb idea.

I've always said to my partner: you may have had a good experience but to me it's like crack, I'd never ever try it

What's your problem here.

Is someone trying to coerce you into doing one?

If so, just refuse.

I've done them and they've 'worked' in that we got a response. Including in broad daylight in gardens/parks etc so nothing to do with atmosphere.

It is however just the ideomotor effect as I learned when I was older. Very convincing at the time though!

My gran (who would be in her early hundreds now) grew up with a mother who was a medium. So she sneakily watched her mum perform seyonces (however you spell it) and she still had the original ouji board up in her loft when was was eventually moved to a nursing home. It would have been made in the 1800's.

But my very tough, independent, Glaswegian gran was absolutely terrified of the ouiji and made us promise to leave the board and anything of that nature well alone.

I think she must have seen some spooky things as a child, but she always point blank refused to discuss it. She said it was dangerous, end of story.

It's a piece of cardboard.

(and yes I have used one - in fact I have one)

I have used one. Have had good and bad experiences. I also have one up in the loft. Haven't done it in years and would never do it in my home now I have children.

There's nowt as strange as what folk believe/are led to believe.

My friend's Mum is literally terrified (and I do mean you can see the look of terror on her face), when someone whistles near her.

Apparently, whistling draws out evil spirits Confused

They are actually a pretty recent thing - only created around the turn of the century and marketed and used as a fun family parlour game.

I tried several times as a teen, with various friends in various places and nothing ever happened. Even tried in a friends house whose mother had done one with her friends and their husbands apparently it worked but was a bit traumatic and they had the house on the market a couple of months later because of it, we tried twice using the same board just before the house sold and nothing.

I really don't believe in them at all! I wish there were such things as ghosts it would bring me a lot of confort believe there is something after we die but unfortunately I just can't.

I've got a lovely story about ouiji boards.
My granny taught my older sister how to do it safely......
I remember listening to my granny and teenage sister and friends doing ouiji board when I was in bed. The glass smashed and it was very scary.

Roll onto when I was a teenager. We did a ouiji/slash seance.

We had water appearing in glasses and on scrabble letters, candle burning at impossible angle, folks round table sweating, folks observing freezing, table moving, chairs lifting, lights flickering......freaky shit.
We had done ouiji before and had good results. Washing up liquid onto of glass to make sure no one was cheating.
I'd never do it again.
Although we found out that some of the folk we "got" through ouiji saying they were german prisoner of war in the Scottish borders were factual people......freaky or what?

I was very seriously warned off it by my mother and have always been too much of a wimp to try it. No idea whether my dm's warning was the result of her own experiences or not. I used to work in a fairly well known stately home/castle where seances were held during the 19th century - my office was a floor above the room where they did it, with a secret staircase between the two rooms. The hysteria surrounding this was incredible!!! It shows that people do tend to believe a little/get easily spooked by this sort of thing.

Of course it's not real. You're an adult. Get a grip. Hmm

I've used one; only once. I was quite skeptical... but to be fair, there was stuff that happened that to this day I can't explain. It didn't feel sinister or anything through. Was just interesting.

It's a bit like walking through a graveyard at night. The only thing scaring you is your heightened imagination. It's the same with Ouija boards. How many people are admitted to A&E having been attacked by a ghost? 0. If you're suggestible and superstitious I would say don't do it because you'll read into it what you expect.

Yes I've done lots of Ouija boards and we contacted something whose initials were DL. It knew things about us that we had never told anyone else.
It was very addictive and up until some really awful spooky things happened we were using it every night.
Never again.
I still get freaked out by certain things over 20 years later!
