AIBU?

AIBU to want to cancel subscription?

Around three years' ago, our daughter's Godfather gave her a subscription to National Geographic Kids. Whilst I would like my daughter to have interest in it, she never reads it as she is simply not interested and we have piles of unread magazines.
Every year, rather than a Christmas and birthday present, her Godfather renews the subscription. It is very kind of him but AIBU to tell him that she does not read it?

Yanbu.

However, he clearly likes the simple renewing thing. Is there another magazine she would read instead?

YABU, he's wasting money on things she doesn't like. I would point it out to him

As a pp said I'd suggest another subscription as it is a good idea for a gift and easy for him to renew.

Can you suggest a different magazine? What does she like?

You could suggest that she has enjoyed NGkids and loves the idea of a subscription but would like to try something else.

We have tried loads of subscriptions (three children, live abroad so less access to magazines / books).

We LOVE the Phoenix Comic (though weekly so quite expensive for a whole year). and The Week junior (same problem!) is also very popular in our house. Read and quoted by 12, 10 and 7 year old.

I agree with suggesting that maybe she's interested in a different magazine and would like to try something new. Possibly something else educational? So that her godfather would still feel like his gift was benifiting her education?
