AIBU?

Would you leave a 3 yr old asleep inside whilst you popped out to the shop for 5mins

Name Changed in view of possible flaming Blush

Would you do it? She sodding well fell asleep during Peter Rabbit (shes not being unreasonable, it's the same fucking storyline in every episode. A fox or a badger chase them) and I don't want to risk waking her up to go to the shops but I have to get something.^^ It's just us here and I can't see the harm if I'm back in five. Am I being stupid even thinking about it or....

Yes you are being VVVU and also irresponsible for even thinking it!

I wouldn't. Is the shop so very urgent? I would just wait until she wakes up.

Absolutely not. Waking up and finding herself alone would be absolutely terrifying for her.

Yes of course you are, but you knew that otherwise you wouldn't have asked on MN

Not a chance. Imagine if she wakes up and you're not there or if you get unexpectedly delayed Sad

I wouldn't.

She'll probably be absolutely fine but you could be delayed for any number of reasons and that's not worth the risk.

No.

gillybeanz · 17/10/2016 17:24

Definitely not, what if something happened to you and you were delayed.
She might be worried sick waking up and you not being there.
Wouldn't even consider it for one moment tbh.

I can't believe you are even asking Sad

If she wakes up she will try to find you and she will panic. Not worth it. If she is spark out, just transfer her to pram and walk to local shop, or I no local shop put her in car seat and drive to petrol station and buy it from there while she sleeps in car. Its annoying but if it is three minutes it should be pramable.

I really wouldn't. She is 3 years old she could hurt herself in the blink of an eye when you are present. The risk is so much greater if she was alone. She would surely panic if she woke while you were not there and she couldn't find you. It's worth it to wake her up or wait until she wakes herself. But please don't leave her.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Anything could happen in 5 minutes.

5 minutes is a long time! No I wouldn't ever do this. Wake her up or put her in a buggy if you've still got one.

This isn't even a good nap time! Just wake her up!

Seriously?
What if you get hit by a car and don't come home?
What if there's a fire?
What if there's a burglar?
What if she wakes up and you're not there?

I wouldn't do it, but if I'm really honest... that's probably more because I'd worry what people would think, than because I seriously think anything is actually likely to happen.

Is there a neighbour you could maybe ask to sit in your house for the five minutes?

I'm worried shed wake up in the cold air. Once she's awake that'll be it till about 10pm.

I feel predictably embarrassed about asking now.

Nope! Quite aside from the dangers and scariness of a 3 year old being home alone, you might get run over by a bus or anything and no one would know to go and rescue her.

Worst case scenario, you get knocked down or if you are driving, get involved in a serious car accident. Wat happens then???? You tell the police, ambulance or whoever rescues you.. Social Services would most def be all over you..

It's crossing the road made me think "shit I could be run over, she'd be all alone". Your all right. Stupid thing to do.

Better than waking up to discover she's been left alone, surely? Confused

If my DS fell asleep at this time I would be stuffed if he woke up. Although if this was it for the night he'd probs be awake at 4am.

Do you love next door to a nice person who could watch her?

What do you need? Bet it's overnight nappies. I've done that.,,

Is this a wind-up? Would you seriously consider doing this?

No, we are pretty much the only parents in a new development full of young professionals who think we're another species! I genuinely don't know the names of any of my neighbours.

Milk. She's a milk addict.
