Hundreds of thousands of people were willing Condemn a innocent man. He was practically forced out of football. This is why we can't play jury from our sofas.

He isn't innocent. He had sex with an unconscious woman.

We shouldn't play jury. Happens so many times. But popular MN opinion seems to be that he's guilty anyway, so I'd don your hard hat now.

In what way was a previous legal trial in which he was found guilty 'mob justice'?

Report
YouTheCat · 14/10/2016 17:13

He's a massive twat.

I suspect the irony in the op is unintentional, sadly.
Would be so much more fun fighting misogynists if they were more intelligent ...

A man who told us he'd fucked a young woman so drunk she had no idea what was going on. Yeah, he's a prince.

Practically forced out of football?

Poor babylamb.

Look at all the fucks I give about what a tough time the poor widdle arrogant misogynistic bastard has had...

Point of order: not "innocent", "not guilty".

Report
Soubriquet · 14/10/2016 17:18

Oh yes very innocent

He snuck into a hotel room, raped had sex with a woman who was so drunk she couldn't stand and then fled through a window

All of that screams innocent doesn't it

He's playing for a league side now who obviously deemed him a suitable role model for their young fans.

It stinks.

Yes, YABU.

Ched Evans was found guilty in a court of law, it wasn't mob justice.

He has now been found not guilty in a court of law as a result of new evidence. The new evidence, is that the woman he was accused of raping, had had sex before when she was drunk and enjoyed it.

What this shows, is that women are still not getting justice for rape. We could do with a fucking mob, because the courtroom fails us.

What mob justice? No such thing happened here. He was tried and convicted, then took advantage of all the legal options available to him to get his conviction overturned. Which he has been successful at. I have no sympathy for him.

Report
MrsHathaway · 14/10/2016 17:24

Mind you, his victim got mob justice - repeatedly (illegally) named online, hounded, called all sorts, life ruined.

Is that what OP meant?

Report
BoneyBackJefferson · 14/10/2016 17:25

OP I would still make sure that if he were invited to my school he wouldn't get through the gates.

If he is innocent, he has served a substantial period in prison and been forced to compromise his dignity and reputation - such as it is - to clear his name. So he has suffered, although not as much as some men might, given he appears to be functioning with the intellect of an amoeba.
Yet this worries me not one bit. I wonder why.

Report
PinkyOfPie · 14/10/2016 17:27

He was found guilty originally. Were people supposed to look into the future?

This verdict will only now do damage to victims, current and future and will give fuel for years to come to MRAs and apologists as the "poor menz" stance. This day is good for nonone involved and I feel desperately sad for the lady involved who never claimed rape.

If someone gets convicted of rape, I will see them as a rapist and this case has not made me change my mind

Yeah, apparently consent is transferable now. So next time I'm having sex with DH, if his best mate has a go, that's alright then.

Fuck sake. Bet his fiancée is so proud to be with such a fine upstanding example. Hmm

Actually, I think there is a strong case to be made that this person had no dignity or reputation to lose. He did lose his liberty for a period, and no one can give that back to him however much he bleats about it.

There are no winners in this regrettable case. The young woman was apparently named on social media and has been hounded. Ched acted like the usual arrogant overpaid sportsman. To have sex with someone who is so drunk they can't consent/stand up is so jolly sporting isn't it?

verdict makes me feel sick! how could he have so little respect disgusting ! as for his girlfriend. ..I cannot put in to words how she makes me feel.
