Hen Night!

Hi, my sister in law is getting married next year in Cyprus, which is a lot of money, but we're happy to pay, as she's close family. I've been asked to attend her hen night, for which I have been quoted £172, it's a night at Butlins, is this a lot of money? It seems a lot to me, as I don't think this even covers drinks, but need to double check, we've been asked to contribute to the Bride to Be's fund aswell.

TIA

I think it's expensive, but I also think it's average these days.

I think you have got off lightly nowadays. A hen night at butlins sounds awful though, and I have done many a butlins holiday as a child. But for adults, not so much.

I've heard lots of good things about the adult weekends, but it wouldn't be my choice and her mother in law has booked it as a surprise, so it's not something she's chosen, to be honest I don't want to go. I just feel it's alot of money to ask people to pay aswell.

I wouldn't go as you're going to the wedding in Cyprus. Maybe she'll get of people who won't be able to attend the wedding going on the hen night. Just tell her you can't do both.

If it was a spa weekend, I could justify that amount, but it doesn't even cover drinks or food. As I don't drink, it's not something I'd want to do anyway, not sure how to say no, without upsetting anyone.

I wouldn't go. How much would you be expected to contribute to hen?
Travel, food, drink and alcohol all adds up. Plus clothes.

£172 for a share of one night group accommodation at Butlins?

Someone is having a laugh, you could probably get a weekend at a nice country house spa for that amount and I know what I'd prefer.

What does the £172 cover?

Did adult weekend at butlins in June and it was brilliant. We took booze and got drunk before going out so hardly spent anything. Dressed up every night too! We paid £189 inc food in hotel at Bognor.
Loved it so much have booked for May next year costing £191 each (6 sharing gold apartment inc food at skeggy)

We just went to Benidorm for my mums birthday (group of girls). I paid £200 for my flights, transfers and apartment for 3 nights, so £170 for one night at Butlins seems very expensive to me.

I've looked at prices and it seems it's the going rate. She's given the date, so not sure if it's just the night, or two nights, I've messaged her and waiting for reply on that. It just seems a lot, especially as it doesn't include food and drinks, I think they catered in for transport to the location too. It's a bit vague, so I have asked for more information, it's not until next year, but she's wanting a deposit of £40.

I think I will say the same littlemiss, as a family of 5 and currently a SAHM, I can't justify paying that amount.
