My son is 1 year old, he does crawl, cruise alone and he also tries to walk. Sometimes he falls even if I am next and watching him. I think this is pretty normal.

He started the nursery 1 month ago and it is 2 weeks now that EVERY DAY I have been receiving an accident form from the nursery. It is always nothing serious, a bump on the forehead, a bump at the back of the head, under the eye, etc...

Today they did not know how it did, but he bumped again the head (nothing serious).

Please let me know if it is normal at this age...and if AIBU thinking that a ratio 1:3 is not enough in this particular nursery. I am so worried...not sure if I am supposed to receive one form every day....

Thanks!

Really? Thanks for answering. I was worried by this kind of answer, but I am definitely looking for another nursery...I tried to convince myself that it was normal and It was a PFB things, but apparently it is not.
Any other opinion?

I would say it was normal to have a bump everyday for a child of that age range.

They might be a tad over-diligent in filling out forms, but it's good in a way that they're taking it seriously I spose.

My DD started nursery at 11 months and wasn't walking till a couple of months later. She is now 3, still at the same nursery, and has been in the accident book less than ten times, I would say. So, no, to me it doesn't sound normal. I would be asking questions.

Yea its pretty normal at that age so long as theyre not leaving him badly damaged

I worked in a nursery and would say that's average for some children. I probably wouldn't have filled in the forms for minor bumps but as PP said maybe they are being over-diligent. If your DS is particularly active and curious then a little bump every day can be normal. And 1:3 is a perfectly fine ratio for under 2s.

DD has been in nursery since 11 months and is now 2. She's been in the accident book three times so far.

If they are recording every bump and bruise for every child their accident book must be enormous! I would be asking questions too.

Does he get similar amount of bumps/bruises etc at home every day? That's probably your best guide. I could count on one hand the amount of times my dd received an accident form in the 4 years she was there which is why I don't think it's normal but obviously all kids are different.

My second DD had lots of bruises and still does even at age 5, she just goes at life full pelt and constantly knocks herself in her quest to do more. Some kids just do. My oldest DD less so as she is more cautious. The 6mths after they started walking we had lots of little bruises around the head where they kept falling. Talk to the nursery if your concerned but sounds normal to me.

Thanks everyone!
Yes, I would say that at home he gets a similar amount of bumps...
