I know I have reached 'that age' when

I treat myself to an electric blanket.

Now, I will clarify that I don't know what 'that age' is but I feel that my excitement over my new electric under blanket probably means I have reached it!

How did you reach 'that age'?

I saved the Robert Dyas booklet from Saturday's Daily Mail to look at later.

I mustn't have got there yet. Either that or I'm so old that I still remember my mum telling horror stories of people's homes being raised to the ground and families being turned to cinders in their beds because of faulty electric blankets and as a result I have never ever contemplated having one.
I stick with a winter duvet and husband with high blood pressure which makes him throw out heat like a radiator.

Beanz - I remember those stories too, I have been looking for ages and investigating them. Mine will go on before bed to heat it up and then once I am in it will get too warm and I will turn it off.
Must be cheaper than heating the whole upstairs.

Limited, I like a browse through the Robert Dyas book but haven't bought anything yet!

You can't have reached 'that age' or you'd be too busy having hot flushes and throwing the duvet off to need an electric blanket!

I make a sound every time I get up from a chair.

And had to get neice to show me how snapchat works. She is still not happy I use it.

I'm guessing 'that age' is pre-menopause.

Oh God I want an electric blanket. I am at the age when my bladder can go unnoticed for hours but the second it needs attention it is an urgent situation. I wouldn't mind but my children were both sunroof jobs!

I'm early 40's and not currently at the hot flush stage (which I am assured will be delightful!)
I am already makin noises when i get up and Rrross1ges I have the same brand of bladder!

Agree with igivein. You defo wouldn't need a leccy blanket if you were 'that age'!!

We're the same vintage soon our 1970s bladders are in need of an upgrade.

I am also at 'that age' when I realise my mum was right about pelvic floor exercises and I am kicking myself for not listening. I'm not sure that I'm ready to tell DM she was right though!

Frankie - I love that you're Snapchatting, I am still stuck on Instagram.

Trucking- I also bought a new flat sheet so I can have a flat sheet, blanket and electric blanket with my duvet. We are learning that our new house is very chilly upstairs.

My DD(21) wants an electric blanket for Christmas. DS(19) asked for one and got it over a year ago. He will not lend it to her. While packing for uni, he forgot socks, towels and plates but remembered his electric blanket.
Personally, I'm a hot water bottle type of gal.

I had a hot water bottle a couple of years ago and it split in the night. Thankfully it was cold when it split so no burns but I did wake up thinking I had wet myself! Since then I haven't used one Grin

Ha! I know I'm at 'that age' as when DP complained about how cold it's getting I said 'Yes! Isn't it LOVELY!' And I have to sit down to put my pants or else I fall over. I also make the 'oooffffgrrrahhhh' noise when standing too.

I'm 'that age' and am now putting off putting the electric blanket back on even though DH thinks it is time.

Pre peri menopause it was the best thing ever - so toasty and lovely - now I'm just thinking 'oh no, another warm thing underneath me' - even though it's got dual controls and I can leave my side off.

Top Tip - if you have a partner get one with dual controls so when you are really 'that age' you can turn it off!

I bought a warm fleecy nightdress.

I must have reached that age 28 years ago when we moved into a house with no central heating. That electric blanket was amazing. I was 22 at the time.

80's....too late mine has single controls (but they have to be on my side of the bed so I will be blanket queen)
I'm such a loser

Brasty! I want one

homes being raised to the ground

You 'raze' something to the ground. Same stem as 'razor'. Wouldn't fancy being burnt to a cinder by a DP with HBP though. Can't you fit him with an automatic fan?! Confused
