AIBU?

Week 5 of a 6 day job

Paved driveway shared with neighbour. After 5 weeks still unfinished with a giant sand pit/ cat litter tray left in the middle, so unable to use at all.

Builder has pretty much used up his list of excuses. AIBU to throw him off site and not pay him balance ( neighbour is in agreement)

Tricky because it can be hard getting another builder to take over a half finished job. Any way of having a meeting and getting the job back on track? Big sympathy, shit builders are a nightmare.

Do not throw him off site. He could sue you for contract repudiation.

First, you must email him and say if he has not completed the job by X (seven days time maybe) then you consider he will have repudiated the contract. Also say that you will then have to employe alternative builders and will be seeking compensation for any additional costs incurred.

Thanks hells bells we were wondering about the legal implication. I am reluctant to get rid, as it will be hassle getting someone else to take the job, although at a push we could lay and cut the final blocks ourselves, we just don't have the tools.

I hear you dingit ! Currently on week six for an ensuite here!! Absolutely ridiculous and the builders don't give a shit coz they're inundated with jobs.

Oh dear, an en suite is even worse, they are inside your house. At least mine are outside. The good new is they've turned up today, and unblocked the sideway, so now I can get my lawnmower out. The bad news is they've run out of blocks, so won't finish today. The side gate is still off its hinges, he was supposed to fit a new one, but can't see that happening any time soon.

That's an improvement but still very frustrating for you! My builder has yet again failed to turn up today so I've told his company to send someone else Angry
