AIBU?

To think I have discovered an amazing new 'thing'?

Or is it already known and mainstream? I do hope it's not and I can copyright it and make my fortune.

Conditioner BEFORE Shampoo!

If done the traditional way my hair goes lank and greasy within 12 hours. Do it backwards and it's all soft and swishy and non-lardy for at least a whole day.

I am truly a genius.

That's what I do. I prefer my hair that way.

That's what I do, I find my hair doesn't fall out as much, has more volume and styles stay put for much longer.

I'll give that a try Thanks.

lol! that is really funny...I mean you know why don't you?

Its because the conditioner IS grease, essentially. So if you wash it off using the shampoo then your hair isn't as greasy. For your next trick you should eliminate the conditioner altogether...after all washing it out basically means you aren't using it.

I will be trying this tomorrow!

I don't get it, if you're just going to wash it out, why bother with it at all?

ThirdTimeLuck · 02/10/2016 20:21

Huh? I've never even considered this before, I'll be trying this one! I too suffer from 'lardy' hair.

I do my condition at all. I phased it out at the screaming baby stage where I needed to shower quickly and it hasn't made any difference.

Report
Blerg · 02/10/2016 20:22

Don't!

Hmmmm. Best conditioner tip is to use it for shaving legs instead of shaving foam. ( And a razor, obviously!)

Genius

Why use it at all? Aren't you just washing it out?

Report
MOIST · 02/10/2016 20:23

My bonce is much softer doing it backwards than not conditioning at all.

only in a society so solidly in the grip of the cosmetics industry would people willing pay to put extra grease in their hair...so they then have to wash their hair even more often...buying even more product...

Seriously guys, catch onto yourselves!

I haven't tried it yet but keep meaning too although my hair is dry and fluffy so the grease thing doesn't matter.

I read an article last week that said you should not rinse the conditioner out before applying the shampoo so no water between the two, don't know if that makes a difference

I tried it, was horrible. Never again. Apparently there are certain conditioners you should use.

Report
braceybracegirl · 02/10/2016 20:24

But if you use conditioner second you still wash it out?

I read about this a while ago, tried it once, got hair like straw. Back to the normal way round for me.

If I don't use conditioner after I shampoo it's a mass of knots and impossible to get a brush through!

It's been around for a while it's called reverse washing.

My hairs so dry it doesn't need it but I told my friend about it who had to wash her hair everyday as it would get greasy everyday and it changed her life. (dramatic but who wants to wash their hair everyday)

conditioners are way more hydrophobic than shampoo. Shampoo is a surfactant, it sticks to water AND oil....conditioner is basically oil. Try dissolving some in your hand in water...the water just rolls off. So while you 'rinse it out' the whole point is to add a layer of shiny grease to your hair.

Makes it lovely and soft and slippery, and of course greasy.

The shampoo can wash it out the same way shampoo washes out the natural grease from your scalp.

I discovered this recently too - it's brilliant! And I sometimes leave out the conditioner entirely, which is great for 1 or 2 washes, but by the third I need to use it again or my hair just feels a bit dry. Always conditioner first, though.
