I am just terminally unimpressed with this bloody chain! But I don't seem to know how to function without them. I suppose I feel it should all be good, given my mother's devotion, years of knowing M&S as the holy grail as a child, and being seduced by their advertising.

I have started several threads about them over the years ... perhaps I just feel no other shop I use fails to live up to my expectations so badly..

So latest complaint: I bought some stuff online on Wednesday (bras, knickers for dd, jeggings if you want to know) - I was going to click and collect but couldn't select a date before Saturday. So I opted for standard home delivery, assuming I would get them by Saturday or at a stretch Monday and that would save me the inconvenience of going to the store. Today I tracked my order - and it hasn't even been dispatched yet! I ordered on Wednesday!! that's pretty crap isn't it, in this day and age?

Hmph.

Standard delivery is 3-5 working days which would mean I would expect them to be delivered next Wednesday, so plenty of time.

Not really, standard delivery is 3-5 working days usually, isn't it? What did they say standard delivery was?

I can't bear their shops because I hate big stores where the escalators and the way out isn't obvious from everywhere in the store, their signage is appalling. Give me John Lewis any day of the week.

I haven't been in for a while, for some reason I feel a bit gloomy as soon as i get through the doors.

PLUS you can't have a bacon sandwich in their Cafe without butter. What's that all about?

I don't know what their standard delivery is. I expect it to be better than 5 working days though.

I heard their bras are great via my friend who works there. However their food is 10/10

Well, in answer to your question, YABVU given that you don't know what either their standard delivery is or what standard delivery in general is.

I still (sometimes) like M&S. But I'm cross with them today because I bought a jumper there, got it home and then realised that the woman who served me hadn't taken the security tag off. Arghhh.

Standard delivery is 5-7 days

I really want to like them but they're just hopeless, aren't they

I don't know about delivery times but they really do need to look at pricing. Saw quite a nice black velour blazer in there last week. It was £70 though which imo was about £20 too much. It just wasn't the sort of quality that warranted that kind of money.

In my local branch tumbleweed blows around the vast, deserted clothing departments. The tiny food section is always packed with everyone fighting over a handful of sandwiches.

Yep, same here re delivery. We live really remotely and a half an hour away from even the smallest M&S. So I ordered a few items online and they were delivered in nine days later. Wasn't anything exciting school shirts, jeggings etc. All mainstream stuff in stock. 9 days!! It would've been quicker to walk!!
I popped into the 'local' store today to look for a pair of jeans for me. Nothing in there. Grr. Back to ordering online.

Love their food though.

I love them because today when I went in and bought a coat, and a pair of boots, because I have a Sparks card I got 10% off the coat and 20% off the boots! Smile

My other issue is - they hardly ever have a full range of sizes in stock. In Bromley recently they had about 500 packs of low rise shorts, no size 10s! That's why I was reduced to ordering dd's underwear online. Also, I want a particular bra - I can't guarantee an enormous branch half an hours drive away (plus a couple of £ on car parking) will have it in my size.

I was in our local food hall earlier getting dinner and there was a rat running around!

I told the staff, who said they thought it was an escaped pet 🙄 It did look sleek mind you. When we left ther was about a dozen staff standing round while one with a cardboard box abd one with a broom chased it.

Anyway sorry this is about. The clothes isn't it!

I agree about their delivery. I know it says 5-7 days but the vast majority of other companies I order from deliver in about 3 so whenever I order from them I start to wonder where it's got to.

YABU. If you needed it sooner, go into a store. I find their delivery to store great, it can be done next day, if you need.

However, why does everybody need everything now! I sell on Ebay occasionally and sometimes the only a couple of days after paying, they demand to know where the item is. Second class post, three day handling, wait five days then ask

Meanwhile I ordered my coffee pods last Sunday and they were delivered on Monday!

I know this is a first world problem and I have spent most of the day feeling extremely upset about Aleppo.

Vote with your purse and don't shop there.
No-one is holding a gun to your head and just because your Mother thought it was the Bees Knees doesn'y mean its the only shop in the village.

My DMum hates M&S. She's talking rubbish of course .
