Have heard a very odd tale from a friend who thinks no one would believe him and is rather stressed. Something he saw.

I wondered if anyone else (fairly recently) have had any unusual experiences.

Well I'm intrigued anyway? Do tell!

Is it dog-related? Because I think Arthur Conan-Doyle might have got there first...

Ha! RawPrawn I remember reading about the hairy hands whilst on holiday in Dartmoor when I was about 11. I was terrified every time we drove anywhere.

I love the hairy hands. I remember watching the sky the whole time on a Sunday school trip one year....

Well they recaptured the lynx but really, anything could be up there. It's a big place and there are plenty of hiding places for predators and prey alike. Not heard anything specific but I'm not that close to it.

I know a farmer up by Hexworthy who saw something with hairy paws, about 10 years ago though. People also talk about some very heavy witchcraft that goes on.

Always been a bit disappointed at total lack of hairy hands vibe Grin.

No, I think the lynx was recaught by then. He was wild camping in a little bivvy tent sure he heard something and then saw at least 3 big skinny long legged dogs? Def not foxes. What other animals are talked about there?

oooh please tell me, whats the hairy hands story?

Report
Tanith · 21/09/2016 20:14

There are a few "hound" legends, including the Wisht Hounds that are reputed to hunt evil-doers to their deaths. The Hound that inspired The Hound of the Baskervilles is another.

You might find this site useful, Op. It has a lot of information about various sightings.

Though I particularly like this cautionary tale Grin

Phone the zoo, tell them their wolves are out. It'll be fun.

Unless he saw the ghostly Wisht Hounds.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were wild packs of something up there. Then again, I also wouldn't be surprised if your eyesight starts playing tricks on the moor and a few loose lurchers started to look like wolves.

Well, based on Sherlock Holmes I can say with absolute confidence that there are sucking bogs on Grimpen Mire which can drag a pony to its watery grave in a matter of minutes. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle says so, so it must be true.

Any chance of the full story, OP?
