I know down here in the SE we've been blessed with good weather for the past few weeks, but here we are now on a wet and miserable Monday; kids coming home damp & stroppy from school because the honeymoon period is over & pavements are wet and slippery

The commute will be hellish; it was dark when many set off this morning, its definitely getting dark now and no doubt the trains will start failing due to the wrong kind of leaves on the line so you'll have to shove in with people whose umbrellas will drip down your neck or onto your feet.

.... phone fail.

So what is there exactly to like about autumn? Unless you are looking at it through a window and not suffering all the discomfort, it is basically shit, isn't it?

I love all seasons accept the weather of Winter (Ice/Frost/snow). I love putting on the fire, wearing warm jumpers, cooking comfort food like stews/csseroles, cuddling up with dc on the couch after school, closing the blinds early on a dark evening and shutting out the world Smile

But I can list as many things about summer weather that annoy me:

BO, (not mine), sunburn, having to wear sun cream, having to bare bits of white hairy body, too hot, hay fever etc etc

Basically, a variety is nice, but I do feel energised in the Autumn. Change is good, so relentlessly rainy or hot weather gets me down.

What about summer when you're forced into a roasting sweatbox next to someone else's sweaty armpits though? At least darker mornings/evenings give a bit of relief from the heat.

Autumn:

The trees, the rain falling on drought-stricken gardens, Autumn clothes ^much6 more stylish, wearing boots, walking in the countryside, having an excuse to do nothing but watch films all Sunday, new term at school, etc etc

I love Autumn! I love the dark nights and the kids love playing in the rain and playing with all the leaves. Being all cosy indoors, the build up to Halloween, Xmas. guess I'm mad haha

Yes Natalia, Autumn really does smell different! And it smells beautiful. It's my favourite season. I loathe the too hot summer days. My melting point is 25 degrees, above that and I'm no good to anybody.

It's the same as people hopping up and down about how great summer is, I hate it but love autumn and winter.

YABU unreasonable. I hate summer! Smelly people, too hot, sun cream (disgusting stuff), terrible traffic, hay fever, clothes sticking to you. The list is endless! Autumn means jeans and boots, jumpers but no coat, beautiful colours on the trees and my favourite of all, Halloween. Amazing!

I like the idea of autum, crisp cool mornings which become pleasant sunny days, the leaves becoming a warm golden colour, the smell of bonfires on dark frosty evenings, the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness.

The reality is is actually wet and humid days, the sort where if you wear a waterproof you end up prickly and sweaty, but if you don't you end up a drowned rat and high winds that rip the leaves off the trees as soon as they change colour, which then turn the pavements into a skating rink of wet leaf mush.

I love it until November.. then I wish we could fast forward to March. But september and october are two of my favourite months... I love the changing of the seasons, the crispness, a sunny autumn day beats a sunny summer one somehow. Here in the NW it can get very muggy and cloudy in august but can be drier and crisper in autumn.

As a born pessimist I never invest in summer clothes, seem to get more wear out of autumn/winter ones and love a good coat and knee high boots... I tend to buy out of season to get a bargain so I have my new boots just waiting for it to get a little colder...

I do get tired of Autumn after the clocks go back though. I think that's why christmas was invented

I love the autumn, we live on the edge of a forest which I have to drive through to get to work. The colours are just wonderful and the evening light is so soft. We love blackberry picking, jumping in leaves and snuggling up in a fleece with a warm drink. I look forward to getting out the thicker coat and a new pair of boots. There's loads to like about autumn!

I love autumn

First day on the district line where I could wear tights without melting into a horrible mess

Lovely leaves everywhere.

I love summer but Autumn has a special place in my heart. The smell, the colours of the trees, swishing through leaves and being happy indoors; whereas in summer I'm always desperate to be inside. I hate it getting dark early though.

I love it. I love the smell of the earth after it has rained. I love the different colours of the trees; red yellow orange brown and green (we also have Heather where I grew up so the trees were against a beautiful purple landscape).
I love the way the rain makes everything look shiny and I love the way the cold weather gives my children pink cheeks and sparkling eyes.
I really love coming home from a hike in the cold and wet and drinking hot chocolates.
Autumn and winter are my favourite seasons Smile
Imo Autumn doesn't really get going though until October, September is just shite.

Just because it's rained for a couple of days doesn't mean Autumn is horrible!

I hate hot weather, prefer a rainy day. No such thing as bad weather, just poor clothing choices. Grin

Things about autumn that are good:

No horrid humid nights = sleep better.
Strictly
Poldark
Better clothes
Boots
No need to shave your legs because: opaque tights.
Cosy fires.
No pressure to be "out enjoying the weather" = Netflix and chill.
Casseroles.
Dumplings.
New coats.
New gloves.
Kick kids off to bed earlier because of dark nights.
Conkers.

Love love love autumn. Hate summer. Like spring. Winter drives me nuts, I cry when it snows because I live in a ridiculously hilly area.

I am a complete summer person and really do mourn the passing of it but that said once it is autumn I do try and embrace it as there are good things about all seasons.

That said I bloody loathe January, February and March unless I can go skiing (next to never)!
