We had this debate at toddler group. It's probably a mild swear word but one in wouldnt discapline my kids for as in use it. Friend thinks it's awful and would discapline her kids for using it

I agree with you OP. it is a swear word as is damn, sod, git and bloody. But they have all been down played and more acceptable in every day language. I don't care if people swear but don't want to hear my children using that language. Don't like fart either but that is probably because I am now an old fart

IMHO bum, snot and fart are not swearing either, though when I was growing up my parents would have made out that they were.

Ha ha my 6 year old has taken to saying "holy crap" which he is doing just to see what I'm going to say and I'm a) trying to ignore and b) wonder if I should be ignoring ??
He doesn't and wouldn't say this in school so know he knows it's definitely a bit wrong.
