From the 5p carrier bag charge.

Prior to that, their float counting and banking must have been so easy! Drawer full of quids and notes.

Now they have all the smaller coins too.

What a shitter for them.

Haha. Great minds think alike.

Or is it fools never differ.

I dunno.

You're joking right? Every other tosser used to want to pay in 5ps and 2ps from bloody change bags. We wouldn't even have noticed.

NapQueen · 16/09/2016 20:34

Seriously? I can't imagine paying in Poundland in small change!

My local Poundland has reduced everything to 90p to undercut Poundworld when they opened next door.

I was thinking that the other day when I was in Poundland and someone wanted a carrier bag - must make their cashing up a lot more difficult.

Never understand people buying 5p bags anyway - I always have a spare one in my pocket on principle!

Elinor I take one or two with me but end up buying so much in there I need more...

I've popped in for shampoo and end up buying Tupperware Blush

Noticed our Poundland/world/whatever had a sign up on the door this week saying 'we are starting to sell items that cost more than a pound but we're still great value'.
It was a bit weird.

We have a lovely family story about pound land.

I took dd about 3yo into town. New poundland open....

I said dd we need to go into pound land.... She got in, looked cross and asked loudly 'Where's the pounds?'

Makes me laugh 4 years later every time I pass one.

I am not friends with poundlands anymore because it has things which cost more than a pound.

Our Poundland (in Ireland) is called Dealz, most things are €1.50.

I'm quite glad stuff in there now sometimes costs more than a quid. It proper spoils dh's hys-bloody-terical game of "How much is this?" said in a loud voice followed by a snigger "What about that?" snigger. Honestly, the man has the maturity levels of the average preschooler.

NapQueen · 16/09/2016 22:14

I never understood why they sell stuff over a quid

"Special deal" they call them. Well surely special deals should cost less than the actual standard stock.

I got a VOUCHER in PoundWorld the other day. A real proper USEFUL voucher. Not the "2 for 1 on main courses at the Beefeater" like usual rubbish, but £2 off a £12 spend.

Actually quite excited thinking what I'm going to spend the free money on.

Does anybodies Poundshop still sell those amazing hazelnut chocolate finger things? They were from the 'posh chocolate' bit and had a foreign sounding name.

I love the randomness of this shop. Also how they have battled inflation over 20 years to continue to bring us £1 wonders.

WowShock
