In brief, friend recently told me that she allows her teenage daughter (almost 17) to have her boyfriend stay overnight- in the bottom (single) bunk bed, in a room shared with almost 10 year old sister in top bunk. Friend says it's ok as the door to the room is left open.

That's not right is it?

Is it?

Nope. Definitely not right!

So where does the teenage daughter sleep? That is definitely odd.

In the bottom bunk with her daughter! Shock

No, wouldn't happen in my house, totally inappropriate, especially with a 10 year old in the room too !

Sorry, how confusing am I making it. Her daughters share a room. They have bunk beds. Teenager has the bottom bunk and boyfriend shares that with her whilst 10 year old is on top bunk.

If I heard about that in my capacity as a teacher, that is potentially a safeguarding issue.

Not right - very wrong

Eeew no, definitely not ok.

No, that is definitely a safeguarding issue, and possibly abuse.

No way with a 10 year old in the same room otherwise it would be okay.

How old's the boyfriend?

Agree with Blank

Totally inappropriate, I would have a real issue with this!

Boyfriend 17 also. I think she's naive to believe they won't get up to anything and that the 10 year old won't be exposed to it.

No, boyfriend shouldn't be staying if the teenagers doesn't have her own room

Now that imperialblether mentions it though... it does sound familiar. Similar thread?

First time posting imperial but if you have a link to the one posted previously I'd love to scan the feedback!

I've been off mumsnet for a while and tbh only came back on to run this thread, so apologies if the subject has been done recently.

I'm now wondering if the subject is the same person?! Shock

So, if I understand correctly, he is on his own on the bottom bunk, girlfriend plus younger sister are on the top bunk.

Where's the problem in that?

Report
nennyrainbow · 15/09/2016 21:54

So they're actaully sharing the bed?? With a 10 yo in the room. And your friend thinks that leaving the door open will prevent them from getting up to anything? Hmm totally inappropriate.

Report
sillyofthevalley · 15/09/2016 21:54

No, sorry. He and teenager are together in bottom bunk. Younger sister is in the top bunk.
