Sorry may be long, but I'll try to add everything.

I have(had) 2 friends lets call them Betty and Wilma. The 3 of us were friends (not best, but good friends). A few years ago Betty and Wilma had a huge falling out that had nothing to do with me, but I stayed friends with them both not wanting to take sides.
About a year ago Betty wanted me to do her a favour (she was paying me for it) but at the time I was really busy and I text her saying I wouldn't have time to get it done in the time frame she had so to ask someone else. (it was nothing important such as a wedding cake, more like a bit garden work). She never replied to that text and has not spoken to me since, including not "liking" facebook posts (she always used to).
Fast forward a year and I was out with Wilma and by huge coincidence (I only see Wilma a handful of times a year) Betty was there too. She was with 3-4 friends. I didn't go over to say hello as
a) I wasn't sure whether we were still on speaking terms (I hate confrontation)
b) I thought it was a bit harsh on Wilma, although she did tell me it was ok if I wanted to and
c) I have really low confidence and even if Wilma was not with me, I wouldn't have approached her when she had friends with her. (she knows this)
So although I do try to catch her eye a few times to give her a smile, she seems to avoid my eye so leave her to it.
Later I find out she had been bitching to my SIL about how rude I was, and how she hoped I would help mend the feud between her and Wilma!! She has now deleted me from facebook. To be honest it doesn't affect me much, as we weren't bosom buddies anyhow but it is a bit awkward as she is married to a relative of mine. But WIBU? I know I maybe should have spoken to her when I saw her but points a, b and c still stand.

She's an unpleasant bitch and you're better off without her in your life, as I'm guessing Wilma would agree.

Life's too short for bitchy friends. flowers

BTW my SIL (who I love) did remind her about point c. Everyone knows I'm really not sociable (it took me ages to agree to go out with Wima)

Betty sounds somewhat immature and too much like hard work, I'd have done the same as you.

You know my confidence is so low that I actually thought I was in the wrong. Its good to know how others think about the situation. flowers

Betty sounds horrible and childish, all this talk of feuds and you sorting out her mess.

No Betty you can call Wilma yourself to sort it out. I'm guessing Betty is not 5.

Your much better off without Betty, I'd focus on building a better relationship with Wilma.

You know, I'd love to hear her side of the story to see how she could possibly make me the unreasonable one.

"Slither said she'd do this job for me, but text me to say she didn't have time. Even though I was paying her! So I stopped speaking to her. Then when I saw her out with Wilma she didn't even say hello!"

pussinasda Thu 15-Sep-16 14:08:16

why was she expecting you to go over to her and say hello
she could of came over to both of you and said hello, how are you hence breaking the ice with wilma
she sounds very princessy to me
dont give her anymore thought, you done nothing wrong

Arfarfanarf Thu 15-Sep-16 14:43:16

she chose not to come and speak to you too.

That was an option for her.

She can hardly complain that you didn't do something that she also chose not to do.

Sod her.

What pussinasda said. Works both ways and she's the one who cut contact. Yanbu and are better off without her by the sound of it.

Maybe (if you want to!) text her " hi Betty, time has really flown since we last spoke I tried to catch your eye when I saw you at x the other day but it was a bit busy. Would be great to have a proper catch up" then you have been the nice one and the ball is in her court. Of course if she doesnt reply she is a cowbag and can stuff herself!

I can see why she didn't come over to us, the argument between Wilma and her is massive and it probably would have caused a scene (I'm only vaguely sure what the argument was about but know it was huge). Glad to know I wasn't in the wrong (and no, I CBA to text her lol)
