sorry to seem slow but there are all kinds of situations where Maui is the answer and I have never seen any suggestion why!

HairsprayBabe Wed 14-Sep-16 14:36:34

Some woman was having her wedding in Maui and mentioned it in literally every post she made. I think she turned out to have hairy hands.

Ninasimoneinthemorning Wed 14-Sep-16 14:36:48

There was a thread a while back about a very entitled bride getting married in Maui.

phillipp Wed 14-Sep-16 14:37:53

Oh she was brilliant! She had a few threads. She was that bonkers, I really wanted her to be real! grin

SabineUndine Wed 14-Sep-16 14:38:33

OK, thank you.

Makes hurried notes to mention Maui in posts about weddings, entitlement, and hirsuit hands.

Caffeinator Wed 14-Sep-16 15:32:23

When one thread was deleted the deletion message was "Because Maui". I liked that.

ShowMeTheElf Wed 14-Sep-16 15:38:16

She was a bit bonkers and planned an overseas wedding while expecting all 150 odd of the guests who would have come to a local wedding to save up pay themselves to join the B+G because 'but it's Maui'.
.because Maui is so amazing everyone they know should give up their own plans for 18 months to save up and go there all at the same time because its Maui...
Very occasionally a troll thread is so entertaining you just want them to lock it and put it in a special folder to be wheeled out at high days and holidays. Maui was one of those threads.

GipsyDanger Wed 14-Sep-16 15:40:44

On the same note, could someone explain the 'cancel the cheque' I missed that one! I gots to know!

PenguindreamsofDraco Wed 14-Sep-16 15:41:54

She had planned the wedding before she met the groom IIRC. And the marriage was looking doomed before it began but she wouldn't consider putting it off because Maui.

BillSykesDog Wed 14-Sep-16 15:42:24

And she had a marble coffee table and her own very successful Frozen tribute act. I believe her name was Pippa. It was an epically good example of trolling.

Mycatsabastard Wed 14-Sep-16 15:42:36

Cancel the cheque was an op who had gifted a cheque to a bride who later sent an email complaining that the amount was not enough. I think it was about £100. Everyone told her to cancel the cheque.

hesterton Wed 14-Sep-16 15:45:50

But they said it long after she said the cheque had been paid in. Every ten posts or so, someone who hadn't read the thread would say 'Cancel the cheque!'

After a while it became a bit of a joke.

ShowMeTheElf Wed 14-Sep-16 15:47:10

Everyone told her to cancel the cheque. spite of the fact that she stated clearly in her OP that the cheque had been cashed before she received the message.
1000 posts later (and after a daily mail article) people were still opening the thread and just typing 'I'd cancel the cheque'. So the thread became about 'bloody daily mail,'cancel the cheque', 'RTFT!' rather than the sheer gall of the bride in the OP.
Hence on any other thread 'have you cancelled the cheque' is a tongue in cheek way of suggesting the bloody obvious or that someone else is replying without RTFT.

Arfarfanarf Wed 14-Sep-16 15:47:56

even after she explained it had been cashed, people were still coming on and saying cancel the cheque.

Because they couldn't be arsed to read the full thread and it never occurred to them that in a million posts that might already have been suggested grin

TopazBurns Wed 14-Sep-16 15:53:49

I'm so tempted to ask if the cheque was cancelled

allsfairinlove Wed 14-Sep-16 15:54:20

My personal favourite was when it was covered on this morning and scofe finished the segment with the immortal words "personally I would have cancelled the cheque"

Jessbow Wed 14-Sep-16 15:56:13

Didn't someone crayon on The marble coffee table belonging to the Maui bride to be?

phillipp Wed 14-Sep-16 16:02:39

was that the same poster?

I loved pippa and her plans to enter a beauty pageant to help her local community. grin

LooseSeal Wed 14-Sep-16 16:05:24

Wasn't Maui Pippa the one with the expensive white sofa as well.

Vixxfacee Wed 14-Sep-16 16:08:40

Come back Pippa.

TheCompanyOfCats Wed 14-Sep-16 16:09:42

Wasn't Pippa the one who had an 18 month pregnancy too, or was that somebody else?

SuperManStoleMyPants Wed 14-Sep-16 16:13:08

Oh Pippa with her very successful business and beautiful white sofa. She was fun.

Farandole Wed 14-Sep-16 16:21:22

Pippa also had a VISION for her kitchen.

donajimena Wed 14-Sep-16 16:25:16

Maui was someone called 'heyhailey' I believe. References to Maui and the username Hailey (or haley?) I'm guessing he/she was watching Modern Family at the time of the trolling.

MermaidTears Wed 14-Sep-16 16:28:35

I'm confused I thought Pippa was Hailey?n
